April is Occupational Therapy Month, a time dedicated to highlighting the vital profession and the differences Occupational Therapists make in our patients' lives. Within Occupational Therapy, cooking is considered an Instrumental Activity of Daily Living (IADL) and is often used as a meaningful way to help individuals regain independence at home. As part of the FutureCare VitalStrong HeartStrong program, a Healthy Heart Cooking Class has been incorporated into Occupational Therapy services. Guided by an Occupational Therapist, participants take part in hands-on meal preparation while learning heart-healthy strategies. This group-based approach supports recovery and encourages lasting lifestyle changes. Thank you to the team at FutureCare Courtland for giving us an inside look at this fantastic program!
