This host segment is my favorite. The rare occassion when a writers room bit translates well into a sketch (I instantly fell in love with Mrs. Kelly as we wrote for The Mask 3D + kept talking like her the two weeks we wrote on this) and the brilliant Matt Oswalt pitched that I should *be* Mrs. Kelly in this segment. We wrote it together. Everyone’s performance is so fun. Costumes are brilliant. (Yes, I pitched that Servo should be Pinhead.) I’m not being my usual humble midwestern self when I say that I laugh every time I watch this. BUT IT IS SO SILLY AND FUN AND THAT IS WHAT WE ALL ALWAYS NEED! Happy Halloweeeeeeen!!! Well… it’s a good thing my sweet sister sent me this bouquet of lilacs for Easter because the lilacs at Descanso Gardens had a rough Spring this year. In March Los Angeles had an unseasonably hot solid week of temps near 100° that really threw every living thing off. Tim + I took a gamble by going to the Lilac Gardens yesterday only to see a lot of green leaves, very few blossoms + fried crunchies. BUT we did unexpectedly bump into a dear friend + had a good ol’ catch up in the Japanese Garden. No picture of us three but believe me - it was better than seeing lilac blossoms! Yay for friendship blooming again even when lilacs cannot.
