Just like many other stories in this city, if we can pinpoint it to a date, this kinda started a day we bumped into each other in cais. One of us was out the other was djing, ended up spending the night together and a couple others followed until the bond materialized as Funkamente.
We kept going back there for a while, including at our very own first Funkamental nights at Musicbox (gonna be missed!), gigs at Lounge (RIP), and those one-of-a-kind set at the very dearly missed Sabotage.
Funnily enough this time we’re doing our debut at an absolute cais staple and one of the few last resisting dancing dens there. We just couldn’t say no to one of the most enthusiastic approaches we got in a while so we’re packing our bags full of those funky disco maxis a boogie cave like this deserves.

This weekend we’re heading back to what became our favorite festival, the yearly retreat by the lake. It’s our fourth time, the lake feels home to us, but we’re just as excited as the first time.
We planned a path through countless sources of inspiration in a long lineage of sun-bathed music with sprinkles of unfinished projects and weird experiments.

acumulam muitas horas na pista, tantas outras no seu comando e colecções que nunca ficarão
completas. Quando não estão no estúdio da ESR, enchem a mala com discos que tornam
clássicos, e muitos que deram trabalho a encontrar. O set é completamente back-to-back e esta
colaboração vai do Jazz ao Funk, do Disco ao House e do Dub às obscuridades da música
portuguesa e brasileira.
Desde 2018 que podem ser ouvidos tanto em clubes e bares pela Europa fora, como também
em alguns festivais. A sua noite Funkamental acontece a cada dois meses no Lux Frágil e Passos Manuel.

Wednesday, That Side, Funkamente ❤️🔥
@funkamente is about two heads who wear different hats at different times.
Founders of Lisbon’s ESR, usually a DJ team, sometimes making tunes, occasionally bringing
technology into music-related projects.
Coming from very different places, randomly bumped into each other at a time when their
interests were converging into something similar. Luckily enough, seems like where these
interests don't overlap they weirdly complement each other. Since 2018 you’ve been able to
catch them playing the coolest underground dancefloors throughout Europe as well as some
festivals. Their night Funkamental happens every other month at Lux Frágil (Lisbon) and Passos Manuel (Porto).
This night is an experiment as much as it is a play.
Sometime back we spontaneously agreed on playing a set of only 7 inches pitched at the wrong speed. We enjoyed so much playing fast tracks way pitched down that we decided to do it again, only now it’ll be planned, definitely on purpose and all night long.
Entrance is a 5eur charge on the door for everyone - non members of arroz can get signed up on the door and we’ll cover the fee from that ticket: no extra cost for you!
It’s a holiday eve so don’t worry about the school night out, and yes, we’re taking our condesa mixer with us.

We couldn’t have asked for a better return to the Balkans. Great weather, food and friends, in such welcoming spots. No cybershots this time as we forgot to charge it but we still managed to collect other shots from the weekend to share with you 🤝

Back to Serbia this weekend!
Our WCS fam is hosting us once again at their always legendary party at Strogi Centar in Belgrade, this time with our own room to play a much desired all night set! The cold outside has been greatly challenged by the warmest hospitality by everyone at Tyven and their extended family constantly treating us with amazing gifts, food and drinks.
