Wet in the World Is Going On • New Logo and Identity for @Funfields by @selftitled_design — 🧑‍💼 ABOUT THE CLIENT Funfields, a 39-acre water-based theme park located in Whittlesea, roughly 40 kilometers north of Melbourne, Australia, has partnered with Melbourne-based agency Self—titled to introduce a comprehensive rebrand aimed at better reflecting the scale and quality of its in-park experience. Originally opened in 1985 as Alpine Toboggan Park, the family-owned destination has grown into one of Victoria’s major theme parks, known for its mix of record-setting water slides and dry attractions. Despite continued investment in rides and infrastructure, its brand and marketing had not kept pace. • 🦸 FROM SELF-TITLED “To add a playful element, we designed a wide array of custom stickers to use as part of the brand language. Evoking a sense of travel nostalgia and personalisation, akin to passport stamps and suitcase stickers. These are used to place over text, images and videos, to create dynamic layouts that feel immediately ownable. Relevant stickers were brought to life with animation, for internal staff to roll out engaging organic content at ease on socials.” • 🧑‍💻 BRAND NEW’S REACTION by Jon Stapp All told, this is a much-needed evolution that brings structure, clarity, and a genuine sense of place to a brand that previously felt like it was being assembled on the fly. The core idea — positioning Funfields as a “One-Day Holiday” — is smart, and the identity supports it in all the right foundational ways, even if some of the executions never quite push past “fine.” I kept finding myself wishing for a bit more personality in the type, a bit more nuance in the color, and a bit more cohesion across the more expressive elements, but none of those shortcomings derail what is, at its core, a solid and thoughtful system. And when you zoom out, that’s really what matters here. — #reviewed #branding #identity #beforeandafter #destination

As part of rebranding @funfields we commissioned Australian illustrator @barryp to create a new map which strikes the perfect balance between whimsy and wayfinding. Barry’s distinctive illustration features a playful style and lots of unexpected details that express the park’s personality — without sacrificing the clarity visitors need to navigate confidently. The printed map serves as a gathering point in the park, where visitors can get an overview of the facilities as well as top-line information about all the attractions. On the website an interactive version allows visitors to navigate the park’s seven regions, read more about each attraction and locate facilities. Full case study on our website. Link in bio.

The ultimate one-day holiday at Victoria’s favourite theme park. @funfields is a family-owned theme park in Whittlesea, 40 kilometres north of Melbourne. Originally established in 1985 as Alpine Toboggan Park, it has since grown into a major attraction, with record-holding waterslides and adrenaline-pumping dry rides. The in-park experience was already excellent, however this was not reflected in Funfields' brand or marketing. We worked with the team on a new brand strategy, visual identity and website, shifting from an assortment of attractions toward a holistic brand with a differentiating visual identity. We conceived a new Self-truth®, ‘One-Day Holiday’, positioning the park as a destination where families and friends can connect, play, and make memories, without the annoying logistics and cost of a traditional holiday. We reframed Funfields as its own world, and reflected this in a spherical logo which spins wherever possible. We expanded this world, by creating seven distinct regions to explore. Attractions are grouped based on location, audience and style, with a name, theme and colour defined for each. The ‘One-Day Holiday’ idea was expanded upon with a wide array of custom stickers that evoke a sense of travel nostalgia and personalisation, akin to passport stamps and suitcase stickers. These are used across all communications, from in-park signage to an animated Instagram sticker set. The new website was designed mobile-first, balancing impactful imagery and engaging video with effortless UX. An intuitive filter system allows families to navigate the park’s diverse attractions with rider requirements including sensory and accessibility guidance shown for each. @rollersoftware booking system is seamlessly integrated with the site, enabling visitors to book a trip in just a few clicks. Sun-kissed days, sticky fingers & ice cream smiles ☀️🍦 Throwing it back to @funfields fun because this cold weather has us missing the sun, the splashes & all the summer chaos. Counting down the days until we’re back in the water 💦

Voodoo at Funfields is an incredibly themed pendulum ride. Manufactured by @zamperlarides and proudly running at @funfields ! Explore an ancient temple and surrounding archaeological camp in search for riches untold. But beware of the temple’s malevolent guardian - Tawhiri - god of wind and storm! Tawhiri’s vengeful spirit will send those who seek her treasure into a swirling, 360 degree, looping frenzy. When the spirit's anger is unleashed, will you survive!?
