Introducing the @functionalhand !
@functionalhand sent us their cool product and our patients are loving it. It can be used for a wide range of functional tasks including writing and cutting food. There are so many other possibilities!
Be sure to check out their page!
Why is documenting your journey so important?
Because weāre human. Itās easy to get discouraged and our brains are quick to forget where we started.
But looking back at old videos shows the journey. Shows the hard work. Shows how far youāve come.
And spoiler: isnāt about showing off; itās about building a lifeline of proof when it sometimes feels like nothing has changed.
Donāt just wait until you reach the finish line to celebrate. Document the middle. Thatās where the real magic happens. āØ

Something I wish more Pre-K parents knew wasā¦
Before little ones can master writing their names, cutting with scissors, or tying their shoes, they need to build up their hand mobility and strength.
Think of fine motor skills like building a houseāstrengthening the tiny muscles in the hands and wrists is the foundation! š§±
Donāt know how to help? Hereās what we recommend:
š«¶ Play-dough squeezing (builds hand strength)
š«¶ Peeling stickers (pincer grasp practice)
š«¶ Tearing paper for collages (bilateral coordination)
Whatās your little oneās favorite way to play? Tell us below! š
However, donāt let hand mobility hold your child back! Never be afraid to use the support of devices like the Functional Hand āØ

Thank you to all of our teachers for all that you do š
For the mentors, the late-night lesson planners, and the ones who see the potential in every child ā¤ļø
Teaching is so much more than delivering a curriculum; itās about the quiet moments of encouragement, the patience that never seems to run out, and the unwavering belief that every student has a unique spark ā”ļø
Although teacher appreciation week is over, weāre taking a moment to recognize that your impact doesnāt end when the school bell ringsāit carries on through the lives of every student youāve touched ā°š±
Most people canāt remember a specific lecture from ten years ago, but they never forget the teacher who made them feel seen, heard, and valued š„°
To all the educators out there: we see the heart you put into your work. You are the backbone of our community, and we are so incredibly grateful for you. šāØ

Creating something meaningful⦠with tools that make it possible. š
For this Motherās Day craft, three kiddos used the @functionalhand Ā® to paint, stamp, color, glue, and createāeach in their own way, working toward their individual goals.
šØ Maddie was painting with a brush to support grasp, control, and purposeful movement while creating something special.
š¼ Dom tried out stamping with markers to encouraging repetition, coordination, and engagement through a fun, creative task.
šļø Miles took on dot markers, glue, and writing to work on fine motor skills, bilateral coordination, and functional participation with hand-over-hand support to build independence.
The functionalhandĀ® helps provide:
ā Improved grasp and release
ā Increased participation in functional tasks
ā More opportunities for independence
ā Access to activities that might otherwise be challenging
Because every child deserves the chance to create, participate, and be proud of what they make and the functionalhandĀ® enables them do just that. āØ
Happy Motherās Day to all of you Super Moms! š

A simple tool that can make a big difference ā
This is the functionalhandĀ® by @functionalhand ā an adaptive grip that helps support grasp so people of all ages & abilities can hold and use everyday tools more easily.āØ
We used it with a variety of activities like stirring with a whisk, using chalk, holding a bow for violin & cello, pouring, painting, and using a toothbrush & hairbrush ā all ways to support participation in meaningful tasks. āØ
As an OT, Iām always looking for ways to make tasks more accessible & to support participation, independence, and confidence āØ
Save this for later āØ

Today might be the last day of Occupational Therapy Month⦠but the truth isā¦there is no āendā to the impact OTs make.
Theyāre the reason a child can hold a pencil for the first time.
The reason someone gains independence in their daily life.
The reason confidence replaces frustration.
These tools⦠these businesses⦠these ideasā¦
theyāre not just products.
Theyāre access, support, and possibility that can CHANGE a childās life.
A special shout-out goes to some of our favorite OT-owned businesses! (Seen in this reelš„°)
