Sakura in NYC 🌸✨ Last year I wrote down that I want to revive my Japanese tradition of Hanami, where we sit under blossoms to picnic. It’s the ephemeral nature of the sakura that makes it so special. One weekend it’s all out, then gone. We idly sit under the trees, eat treats, and do nothing together for a day.🍱🌸✨
La Traviata is the Opera I grew up listening to on my father’s LP, and I finally had a chance to see it live at @metopera for my birthday💕 Such drama, passion, so Italian!! Live opera (and ballet!) is alive and well, there were patrons young and wise in the packed audience. I’m feeling open, light, strong and loved this solar return🌞 thanks to many of your well wishes, love and friendship. Also… silk scarf by @sabinasavage is the perfect layer for Opera, it’s dramatic and beautiful for the occasion but also so light and you can literally wear anything under for comfort✨
Making art at the Met with Tilo and Emilio💕 We talked about doing this forever, and finally we spent a day drawing together. I adore our NYC weekend, chatting and relaxing and eating and creating. @carandache is the perfect medium for the Met because it’s pencil (allowed at the Met) but gives you so much depth✨
Martha Graham Dance Company is both the oldest dance company in the United States, celebrating their 100th year, and also the one founded by a woman. Martha Graham was a legend as an artist, an activist, a visionary. Through art, she evangelized women’s ability to be independent as we are; not perfect, not delicate, but raw, flawed and powerful. To be a female is complex, powerful, wild, vulnerable, and she paved the way for artists to explore all of its rich colors. To stand in this historic space in the 11th floor of a Greenwich Village building was moving. It felt sacred. I’ve seen a dance by their principal @xin_ying_dance in 2024 and was blown away by her emotional artistry and beauty… to be in this space this weekend, feeling the magic, I felt lucky to live Here.
At a cross section of Art and Fashion, Sabina Savage created beautiful worlds of fantasy and poetic storytelling. Each season is a new collection, new inspiration, new fables. I’ve been a fan for a few years now, and was so excited to stop by at her pop up in NYC SoHo today. If you are in the city, stop by at 188 Lafayette, her new collection is up until 2/22. @sabinasavage
This goddess✨ Thank you Lay @lay.light for a gorgeous sound bath session at my house❤️🔥 Last year I saw her perform at Chrissy’s shop @chrissythecrystalindigo and I’ve been dreaming about how it felt… She created a perfect session for our first New Moon gathering to ground our minds/bodies for the year. Her art is so intense and beautiful, using multiple bowls in harmony. I could really feel the sound waves going through my body.🌀🌀🌀 This year, I live by the idea that my choices create what I wish to exist more in this world. Art is one of them, and this was a perfect snowy Saturday experience.
Back to my Sunday dance + dumpling ritual. The view from the studio is amazing but I never take pictures, so reminded myself today. Fave dumpling spot in West Village is @steam_nyc . Their Shanghai style soup dumplings (with sophisticated clear consommé and thin skin) are better than Din Tai Fung, and all other dishes are perfectly done also. Chef Sammy has a high standard! A hidden gem.
November in Sedona. I’ve always wanted to visit this land, but my friend Jan guided me there during the full moon. I’m so grateful for her gift, and saw the signs everywhere that her spirit was present with me after her passing in September. I felt connected with my magic there, soaking up the sun, stargazing, and hiking through the canyons✨🌞
Creative life. When I was a student, my professor told me to hide away in the mountain to create, and not show my work for a few years. That was not an option for me then, but it’s an attractive idea. I love the beauty that surrounds me now, deep conversations I have with friends. Life blooms in mysterious ways. I’m grateful.
Last weekend, planting trees @wildsong.gaian.sanctuary , spending the rainy day making impromptu drawing session, connecting with the beautiful land, and meeting a well-hidden baby deer in the wildflowers. It was so magical, it was like a song. Thank you @bing.cheah for hosting us and showing your way🌸💕
A. A. Murakami’s art at Museo Della Permanante in Milan. Quiet and poignant, they really drew me in and made me think. From the bubbles and smoke that evoke our short and beautiful human lives to the robot arms in red primordial water, it’s essential, elegant, and enigmatic. Bravo! @a.a.murakami for Kia Opposite United.
