This is James! He graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Architecture in 2006. James joined our team in the founding year of our practice [2016] with over ten years of accumulated experience working in architectural and design fabrication practices. In addition to/in parallel with design work, James also founded and operated a screen printing business with his wife, Meredith! He became a partner at Fultz & Singh in 2019. James’s work is extremely thorough and reflective of his inspiring ability to approach all conversations with focus, compassion, and unmatched humility. In the office, James (seemingly effortlessly) juggles production, project management, drawing review, and a boatload of operation/administrative tasks simultaneously. As a leader, he guides nuanced projects and relationships with reliable calm, genuine, and diplomatic spirit. Outside the office, he can be found baking bread, gardening, traveling, and trying to tire out his kids before they tire him out.

False spring is upon us and we are looking forward to a weekend soaking up the sun [gardening, lounging, cooking and enjoying food outside] which reminded us to share some epic drone shots @keithisaacsphoto captured of our completed ground-up office project on Grove Ave. The rooftop on this project contains lounges, dining spaces, and a communal kitchen buffered by verdant planted accents.

Presented with a (shallow, hard, cold) street level corner commercial shell, we worked in partnership with @jlrbrts to design and transform the interior of @lillian_rva into an efficiently organized, cozy and intimate dining experience featuring unexpected pops of color and eclectic residential touches. The space is overflowing with layers of locally crafted millwork by the talented @daniel_rickey_furniture including a unique 23 seat dining height bar (spanning a glorious 58 linear feet), a coveted cushioned corner booth, custom column wraps, painted shelves, and a red oak soffit suspended over the kitchen and bar. This project was brought to life by @corinthianconstructionrva in early 2024. 📷 @kylie.heald

As we roll out staff highlights, it would be remiss of us not to also celebrate our furrier office companions. Meet Nipsey (tiny cow)! He joined our team in 2019 as our youngest, and first canine, hire. We were immediately impressed by his gentle demeanor and dedication to rest. Nipsey abhors car rides but he’s easily distracted when working remotely so he valiantly conquers his fears at least once a week and gets a ride from a coworker across town to the office. He is a team player, diligently attending all office meetings (even when he is not on the project). Nipsey loves his family, firm pat-pats, gently nibbling on human ears, analog drawing, and voraciously destroying toys.

This recently completed residential project in the heart of Manchester was developed and constructed by a dynamic mother, daughter, and son team (Prizm). As we worked closely with them from the project’s conception through construction, we were inspired by their dedication to the quality of construction and attention to detail in execution. 📷 @kylie.heald

This is Logan! He joined our team after graduating from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Architecture in 2019. Logan is revered for his unwavering optimism, brightness, and selflessness which enables him to uplift and support everyone he shares space with. Logan’s open-minded curiosity propels him to explore and implement new knowledge deftly. Logan is our go-to teammate for rendering support and diagramming exercises. Outside the office, he can be found working on his assortment of vehicles including a 1989 Volvo 240, a 1968 Honda Trail 90, and other motorcycles and cars. His border collie, Bean, is very good at holding the flashlight and helps where she can.
