They say it takes a village, and when it came to a sophomore album, we took that to heart and decided to throw everything and the kitchen sink at it. Upright bass? Naturally. Guitar? Absolutely. Drums? You betcha! Cello? But of course. Guest vocalist? All day. 45-piece orchestra? Yes’m. What these instrumentalists were able to help us capture is nothing short of breathtaking. It was an absolute joy to go to the studio and just swim in the unbelievable talent, take after take. These incredible folks helped turn An Occasional Man into the album of our dreams, and I am eternally grateful to them. Get ready, it’s gonna blow your socks off. A lot of work goes into seeing a creative project through to completion. There is always excitement and passion at the jump… but quite often that energy that drives momentum and fuels forward motion can fizzle out. Boy, am I glad that wasn’t the case with Reset. One year ago today, I did something I’d always dreamt of, but never considered a possibility. I released a freakin’ album. I sometimes STILL can’t believe it happened.
The catastrophic Palisades fire affected so, so many. And while 5 Cat Studios was luckily spared from the devastation, it set us back a bit from working on album #2. But have no fear! We won’t let this one fizzle out. Stay tuned for new music, coming soon! And in the meantime, revisit Reset with me and have a listen to celebrate its anniversary!

Exciting news! 🎶 I’ve dropped a single! As we continue to work in studio with different arrangements and songs for the next album, we thought it’d be a fun treat to release one of them. ‘Night and Day’ is now available on all streaming platforms! This song is uniquely special to me, as it was the first song I worked on while taking lessons from a vocal coach in high school. This track challenged me in ways I didn’t expect. Most versions are upbeat, and so we decided to go the opposite direction by stripping and slowing it down, which added vulnerability to the story. It’s self-reflective, but oddly calming. Gently swaying palm trees felt like the perfect pairing. 🌴 ✈️ ☁️

A perk of living in California, and more specifically driving home on the PCH every day, is catching epic sunsets over the Pacific Ocean. Batu grabbed this time lapse after a stressful day at the studio, and it just felt like it fit this song like a glove.
