The city of Knoxville, TN, was never on our radar for Porsche parties...until now. 📍
@porsche_platica (Porsche “Talk” in Spanish) was organized by Shannon Harper and Connor Hinkle of
@harperporsche , and was brought to our attention by a friend (
@winningauto ) who wanted to gather the largest sampling of Carrera GTs to celebrate the iconic model’s 20th anniversary with fanfare.
In only its second year, over 3000 spectators converged on The Quarry, a wedding venue in the quaint city. There, attendees enjoyed an intimate sampling of Porsches. There were just over 50 show cars, which meant you had the time to appreciate each in detail.
Naturally, the centerpiece of the show was the CGT. Thanks in large part to
@grahamrahalperformance (GRP),
@repasimotorwerks ,
@meritpartners ,
@ryanfriedmanmotorcars , and
@zweck , there were 19 CGTs that made the trek, including the only Zanzibar Red example (still enjoyed by the original owner), the original Oak Green launch car, and two Porsche Sunderwunsch re-commissioning projects.
Still, there was plenty more to admire.
@rufnorthamerica and GRP also brought out some rare birds, many of which had seldom been seen in person.
@thecultivatedcollector brought out his Schuppan 962 and the HEIGO prototype Porsche SCRS, which had been restored by the talented hands at Tuthill in collaboration with Rothsport.
Rain couldn’t spoil anyone’s spirits; all of the cars were thoroughly enjoyed on Tennessee’s picturesque mountain roads and at a private track day at
@flatrock_motorclub preceding Sunday’s main event.
Needless to say, Porsche Plática has earned a rightful place on the car calendar, and we were thrilled to be part of such a historic gathering.
