this is a mini series inspired by the pottery I saw in South America early last year. Initially, they were just small, casually handmade pieces, but the more I look at them after finishing, the more I adore them—playful yet carrying a kind of clumsy charm. I suppose it’s truly “shaping from the heart.”
many of the pottery pieces I saw had lost their original colors over time. after returning to Beijing, I felt a strong urge to paint the subjective colors in my mind onto these pottery forms. that’s how this new series of little animals came to life. they feel natural, playful, and delightfully naive. Any work that can make people smile or tear up sincerely at first glance is truly remarkable.

For the Year of the Fire Horse (Bingwu丙午) in 2026, I painted a series of small porcelain artworks with artistic glazes.
I used custom wooden boards as frames for the porcelain pieces, finished with natural wood wax oil.
The flowing glaze meets the natural grain of the wood — a meeting of fire and wood.
Today is 立春 Lichun, a start of Spring. Wishing everyone a happy beginning of Spring.
The Year of 丙午Bingwu will be a good one!🔥

This series of nine creatures was inspired by my 70-day journey through South America in 2025.🌎
During the trip, I was captivated by the vividness and quiet humor of pre-Incan pottery🏺Though centuries old, these works felt full of life. Back in my studio, I translated that spirit into my own ceramic creations.
Each creature has its own unique form and glaze, guided by intuition and imagination—a personal response to the landscapes and cultures of South America.🪻🍃

This is a new series I created last year in Jingdezhen called “Useless Flower Vases”
The inspiration came from the Jingdezhen Porcelain Palace, a lifelong project by ceramic artist Yu Ermei. I’ve visited the Porcelain Palace three times, and when I went in 2022, it was still under construction. By the end of 2025, when I visited again, though one of the palaces was still unfinished, it had become a crowded tourist spot. Yu Ermei sadly passed away in 2023, leaving the Porcelain Palace unfinished for future generations to complete.
The first time I visited, I was captivated by the beautiful hollow windows in the palace. These ‘leak windows’, commonly used in traditional Chinese gardens to frame views, were reinterpreted with ceramic material in the Porcelain Palace, turning the delicate beauty of garden aesthetics into solid porcelain.
I secretly wanted to bring these ‘leak windows’ home, so I created this series of ‘Useless Flower Vases’ in Jingdezhen. Some friends say they resemble faces, others say they have an architectural beauty, but to me, they are simply a tribute to the Porcelain Palace—beautiful objects standing there without much purpose.
这是我去年在景德镇做的一套新系列，无用的花器。
灵感源于景德镇瓷宫，瓷宫是一位景德镇陶瓷艺术家余二妹的毕生之作。我一共去过瓷宫3次，在22年的时候它尚未修缮完。25年底去的时候，虽然仍有一个宫殿尚未修缮完，但它已经变成人满为患的旅游点了。而余二妹老人家也在 2023年走了，留下待后人继续完成的瓷宫。
第一次去的时候，我便被瓷宫里漂亮的镂空窗口吸引。“漏窗”在中国传统园林中起到“框景”的作用，余二妹的瓷宫以陶瓷材质重新诠释了这一元素，将柔美的园林美学凝固于坚硬的瓷里。
私心想要把“漏窗”带回家我的，便在景德镇做了这套“无用的花器”。有朋友说它们像一张张人脸，也有朋友说有建筑的美学，但它们在我眼里就是对瓷宫的一份念想，漂亮得站在那儿，没什么用处。
