Two new records and two new courses stole the spotlight at the 48th annual Stewart McKelvey Fredericton Marathon.
Despite Sunday’s downpour, marathoners, half marathoners, and 10K runners took on the city’s bridges, streets, and trails — while Saturday’s 5K participants and kids of all ages filled downtown Fredericton. In total, 𝟯,𝟲𝟳𝟭 runners were registered across the weekend.
Saturday’s
@evisitnb Elite 5K delivered fireworks of its own. Forty elite athletes raced two loops of the downtown core, and both course records fell:
• 𝗘𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗶𝘁 (Sweets Corner, NS) set a new women’s record in 16:30, smashing her own 17:27 mark from last year’s inaugural race.
• 𝗛𝘂𝗱𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗺𝘀𝗵𝗮𝘄 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲 (Central Chebogue, NS) clocked a blistering 14:00, beating the previous 14:28 record set by Mike Tate (London, ON).
Nearly $𝟴,𝟬𝟬𝟬 in prize money was awarded to the top four elite women and top four elite men, along with recognition for the two new course records. The EVisitNB Elite 5K remains the only race east of Quebec City included in the 2026
@athleticscanada Road Race Label program.
This year also introduced a new 10K course and relocated the
@tritesortho Youth Fun Run to Queen Street and Officers’ Square — bringing even more energy into the heart of downtown.
👀 Keep an eye out for registration details for May 2027.
A huge thank you to every participant, volunteer, sponsor/partner, and supporter who helped make the 48th annual Stewart McKelvey Fredericton Marathon such a success.
