• architectural hybrid III, Siracusa, 2025
The Temple of Athena was built around 580 BC during Siracusa’s Greek period in a Doric style over older foundations, transformed into a church in the 7th century AD, reclaimed as a mosque in the 9th century, reconverted into a church in the 11th century and partly rebuilt with a new baroque facade un the 17th century – today the Cathedral of Siracusa.

• spare parts, Athens, 2024
Finally been able to visit this radical and inspiring piece of contemporary architecture, that I discovered a while ago through a post by @angelidakis . Bold and straightforward, dense yet permeable, pragmatic and hyperefficient to the point of being heroic, utilitarian and monumental, economical and utterly elegant in its execution. No „ideas“ and „concepts“ just structural improvisation and functional accomodation within a prexisting concrete frame. The organisation of the content is the facade, always changing yet always remaining the same. Spare parts that become architecture for a brief moment in their biography, an anonymous masterpiece.
