From The Ground Up presents its first zine, KNOW THE LINES, a pocket-sized guide to help skaters handle moments when something’s not cool at the park or in skate spaces.
The zine breaks down what boundaries and consent really mean, and explores what to do when those lines get crossed.
Using the 4Ds of Bystander Intervention: Direct, Distract, Delegate, Delay, it gives real examples that can happen in skate spaces and phrases you can use to step in safely and with care.
From The Ground Up is a social skate project exploring how social issues and skate culture connect. The purpose of this zine is community care. We want to think about how we, as skaters, can educate ourselves and each other, so we can better look out for one another and take care of our community ❤️
🧷 Free copies of the physical zine will be available in skate shops and parks around Barcelona & Glasgow.
📎 As part of our 💥100 zines for 100 skaters challenge💥 we will be distributing the zines when we go to skate the park and want to take photos of people with their zines to document the project ❤️

We invite everyone in the community to come on down to the Arches and help us build a brand new skate obstacle, designed by FLINTA skaters as part of our DIY DESIGN workshop!
We’d love for the whole community to come on down, get involved, and celebrate this project by lending a hand. In a build, you can never have too many hands, so whether you’re handy with tools or just up for lifting, you’re welcome.
You’ll be fed and watered with food and refreshments provided throughout the day.
✅🌈This is a safer space event. Ground rules will be shared at the start and must be respected by everyone.
(For those who aren’t familiar FLINTA stands for female, lesbian, intersex, nonbinary, trans and agender! :)

💚🏴GÀIDHLIG SKATE SESSION 🏴💚
7pm Monday 4th August, Riverside Museum.
Ever wondered what “do a kickflip” is in Gaelic? Well, here’s your chance to find out!
We’re kicking off our project by celebrating Scottish skateboarding with an event where you’ll learn Scottish Gaelic (Gàidhlig) through skating! 🤯🏴
How does that work, you ask?
The session will be delivered in English, but you’ll learn Gàidhlig words for movements related to skating (like push, jump, slide, etc) by following a Gaelic-themed skate circuit in small groups.
Each station of the circuit will be dedicated to a unique Gàidhlig word. At each station, you’ll have to whip out as many tricks as you can that match the meaning of that word before the clock moves your team on to the next station.
Before the circuit begins, you’ll be briefed on the words and taught how to introduce yourself in Gàidhlig, phrases like “hello,” “my name is…,” “I’m from…”. We’ll end the session with how to say thank you and goodbye in Gàidhlig. They’ll also be a limited amount of free zines with all the phrases from the session- first come, first serve! 🗞️✨
Skate instructors will be on hand, and language guidance comes from Gàidhlig primary school teachers Amber and Yayesh who are both very passionate about Gàidhlig language and culture. They’re super excited to lead this session and share Gaelic with skaters! Swipe to meet them!

✅🌈A safer space that centres queer people and cis women. All genders are welcome, but ground rules which will be shared at the start of the event must be respected by everyone.

Our wee zine took a wee ride of the clock work orange (aka the @glasgow_subway ) to make itself available in The Loading Bay, just for you!
Available at the front desk, Know the Lines is a free zine for skateboarders about consent, boundaries and how to look out for one another. It illustrates different situations where someone crosses a line and gives you things you can say and do to intervene. It walks you through a useful strategy called the ‘Four Ds of intervention’: Direct, Distract, Delegate, and Delay. Four practical ways to step in, whether it be addressing a situation directly, creating a distraction, getting help from others, or checking in afterwards.

From the Ground Up (@ftgu.project ), a ROLL Models project led by Lynsay Holmes brought together FLINTA skaters, allies, builders, teachers and artists in Glasgow with a 2-week program of workshops exploring skateboarding as identity, creativity, and collective care.
Across seven events, the project blended culture, community and concrete.
🔷 Gaelic Skate: learning Gàidhlig through skate tricks — celebrating Scotland’s Indigenous language and skate identity.
🏳️🌈 Skaters Who Slay: queer skate film night + trivia, giving the spotlight to queer legends of skateboarding.
🧠 Pushing for Awareness: mental health films + panel with @thebenraemersfoundation , breaking stigma through honest conversation.
🛠 DIY Design: FLINTA* skaters came together to design an inclusive obstacle.
🧱 DIY Build Day: the whole community came together to construct the Frankenstein’s Funbox — a fully inclusive obstacle designed by FLINTA* skaters for everyone.
🛹 Funbox Inaugural Skate: the first session and celebration of Frankenstein’s Funbox!
🌈 Transition Workshop (FLINTA only): a confidence-building day of ramps, bowls, and slayers energy ;)

Nuestro primer fanzine profundiza en el tema del consentimiento.
¿Cómo se manifiesta el consentimiento en el espacio del skate? ¿Cómo trabajamos juntxs para cuidar mejor los límites, el respeto y construir espacios más seguros?
Inspiradxs por el trabajo de @consent_is_rad y @doloresmagazine en este tema, queremos apoyar la conversación sobre consentimiento desde la educación creativa y comunitaria.
Aunque este reel es juguetón, patinando con el fanzine, trucos y risas, sabemos que el consentimiento es un tema muy delicado. Nuestro objetivo no es juzgar ni dar lecciones, sino acercar la conversación de manera creativa, accesible y desde el cariño.
Nuestro proyecto empezó en Escocia, por eso este primer fanzine está en inglés. Sin embargo, mientras seguimos adelante, crearemos recursos en los dos idiomas.
Vamos a ir contando en qué skate shops vamos dejando el fanzine 🐀
