We at FSSR wanted to come here and give you some honest information as to the state of our rescue as we know some may be wondering. Rescues everywhere are struggling and overwhelmed. We are in that same boat. We have so many GREAT and AMAZING dogs that for whatever reason are just getting overlooked and continue to sit with us. Some who have been with us for YEARS! We get it, for many people who are looking adopt these days they want the “perfect dog”. So when they read in their bio that somewhere in a dog’s past they had a bite they by-pass them and look to another dog without one. But we are in the state of rescue where dogs come to us with a past and we want to see a brighter future for them. This is why many of our volunteers chose to volunteer. We want them to know what true love is and have happier days. This requires some time and patience of course, but to see the transition in a dog who had a hard time in their past persevere to something entirely differently is amazing to see and CAN happen…..if you give them a chance. Since they aren’t getting that, we need to do better for them and give them every opportunity to find it and yes, that may mean we have to pause on the intake of new dogs, but they deserve to get there just as any other dog would. With that said, we have taken a financial hit. We have lost so many avenues for fundraising and ways to get our dogs exposure that we can’t responsibly care for more. They deserve to have adequate care but that still costs money. Food alone is about $700 a month! Let’s not forget about vetting..that’s even more! To say we appreciate the love and support we have received over the years is an understatement. We can’t do what we hope to do without it! With that said the future is unknown, but we know what is needed right now and that is not to be a forever sanctuary to the dogs we currently have. For some the rescue is where they’ve spent most of the life and that needs to change. We will work together to make that happen because they deserve it!

🐾 Meet Morticia — our beautiful black-coated girl who keeps getting passed by… and we just can’t understand why. 🐾 Sometimes the hardest dogs to place are the ones who don’t “fit the mold.” Morticia isn’t a husky. She’s a black dog. And because of that alone, she keeps waiting. But Morticia has *so much* love, energy, and loyalty to give. Morticia is a young mixed breed — likely part cattle dog — with a medium build and an exuberant, joyful personality. She is eager to please, thrilled to work, and happiest when she has a job to do. Whether it’s learning new tricks, playing fetch, or going on long adventures, Morticia lights up when her mind and body are engaged. She was surrendered for trying to herd people (a very cattle-dog thing to do!), which just means she needs the right outlet for her intelligence and energy. Give her structure, activities, and purpose, and she will give you her whole heart in return — plus lots of enthusiastic kisses. Morticia would thrive with: ✅ an **active adopter** who enjoys training and play ✅ someone who will give her **mental and physical outlets** ✅ a home without **young children or small animals** ✅ another **dog friend**, as she does wonderfully with other dogs Morticia bonds deeply with her people and wants nothing more than to be your devoted companion. With gentle guidance, she can learn how to share her affection — though she’ll always hope to be your favorite. Being a black dog and a non-husky has made Morticia’s wait far longer than it should be. She is ready to stop waiting. She is ready for her forever. If you’re looking for a loyal, energetic, affectionate partner who will fill your days with joy and your heart with love… Morticia is your girl. 🖤 👉 **Learn more about Morticia and apply to adopt here:** /pets/available-dogs/877 --- If you'd like, I can match this formatting for Adonis too so all three posts feel cohesive on your page.

🐾 Meet Luna — our beautiful senior girl, and time is of the essence for her happily ever after. 🐾 Some dogs wait… and some wait **far too long**. Luna is a volunteer favorite and a senior Husky with more love and life in her than you could ever imagine. At nine years old, she is still active, playful, and full of joy. She absolutely *lives* for her time in the yard with her volunteers and her favorite thing in the world is going for long walks where she can explore, sniff, and soak in everything around her. Despite her age, Luna is strong, energetic, and would be an incredible companion for someone who enjoys staying active and has a securely fenced yard where she can safely stretch her legs and play. What breaks our hearts is that Luna has **never known a real home**. She lived outdoors before being rescued by Free Spirit Siberian Rescue, and has now spent her entire nine years in a kennel environment. Because of this, Luna will need a patient, dedicated adopter to help her learn what home life looks like — simple routines, household manners, and the comfort of being someone’s family. Luna would thrive with: ✔️ a **husky-experienced** adopter ✔️ someone patient and consistent with training ✔️ an **active lifestyle** and fenced yard ✔️ a home that understands that love sometimes takes time to bloom Luna also needs reassurance around mealtime. She has learned to guard her food — likely from her past — and with gentle guidance and consistency, she can learn that her food is safe and she is safe. The truth is… Luna doesn’t have endless years left to wait. What she does have is an endless supply of love, loyalty, and companionship waiting for the right person to finally choose her. If you open your heart to Luna, you won’t just be giving her a home — you’ll be giving her the ending she has deserved her entire life. 🐺💛 👉 **Learn more about Luna and apply to adopt here:** /pets/available-dogs/817 --- If you'd like, I can also do the same formatting update for Adonis’s post or create a matching graphic caption style for both.

🐾 Meet Adonis — still waiting for his happily ever after… and we’re hoping 2026 is finally *his* year. 🐾 Every dog comes to us with a story. Some are joyful. Some are hard. But every dog deserves the time, patience, and love to build a **positive future** — and Adonis is no exception. Adonis is a stunning long-haired Husky who joined us from New Mexico. He is energetic, quiet, incredibly sweet, and full of potential. He loves long walks, zooming around the yard, playing fetch, and soaking up affection from the people he trusts. He knows his commands, responds beautifully to positive reinforcement (especially treats and praise), and once he feels safe… his true personality shines. What Adonis needs most is **time and space to build trust**. New places, new people, and new situations can feel overwhelming at first. When he’s given patience and the chance to move at his own pace, he warms up, becomes curious, and shows you the loving, playful boy we know so well. With the volunteers he trusts, Adonis has shown nothing but loyalty, affection, and joy. Because of his past, Adonis will do best in: ✅ a **quiet, low-stress home** ✅ with a **large fenced yard** to explore *or* an **active owner** who enjoys long walks ✅ children **10+** ✅ and as the **only dog** in the home When his boundaries weren’t respected in the past, fear took over — which is why his future family must be patient, consistent, and committed to building trust. In the right home, Adonis becomes an incredible companion: devoted, loving, and endlessly rewarding. Adonis has waited far too long. He is ready for someone to see beyond his past and invest in his future. He is ready for his **forever**. If you believe every dog deserves the chance to feel safe, loved, and understood — Adonis is waiting for you. 🐺💙 👉 Learn more about Adonis and apply to adopt here: /pets/available-dogs/870

🚨 URGENT – HELP HENRY STAY OUT OF THE SHELTER 🚨 We have one of our beloved Free Spirit alums, Henry, who desperately needs a new home. After spending 8 years in a loving home, his family can no longer keep him, and we are trying with all our hearts to avoid him having to come back to the shelter. 🐾 About Henry: 9 years old, great with other dogs (he even boards happily at Camp Bow Wow!) Potty trained & crate trained Does well at the vet Would do best in a home with teens and up Needs to be fed separately due to food guarding, but otherwise is a sweet and wonderful companion Henry is currently in Villa Park, IL and needs either a foster or adopter ASAP. If you or someone you know can open your heart and home to Henry, please contact us immediately. Every share could make the difference that keeps Henry from losing the comfort he’s known for nearly a decade. ❤️ 📍 Location: Villa Park, IL

**🏡💙 Long-Timers, Lifelong Love 💙🏡** At Free Spirit Siberian Rescue, we have some very special dogs—our long-time residents. These incredible souls have spent most of their lives waiting, wishing, *hoping* for a family to call their own. They may be shy. They may need more time to trust. But that doesn't mean they aren't worthy of knowing the comfort, love, and warmth of a real home. In fact, if there’s *anything* we wish most in the world—it’s this. For them. 🐾 A soft bed after years in rescue. 🐾 A patient heart that understands healing takes time. 🐾 A person who sees past the challenges and straight into their beautiful, resilient spirits. They haven’t given up hope—and neither will we. If you’ve ever considered opening your heart to a dog who *really* needs you, *this* is your sign. These dogs may not be perfect, but they are perfectly deserving. Can you help? 💌 Share their stories. Spread the word. Help them find the person or family who’s been missing them all this time—maybe it's even you. 📍 View our long-timers and learn more: /pets/available-dogs Let’s give them the happy endings they’ve waited far too long for. 🐾💙 \#AdoptDontShop #LongTimeResidents #RescueDogs #FreeSpiritSiberianRescue #SiberianHuskyRescue #FureverHome #AdoptTheUnderdog
