Joyous reunion with my old friend and magical big hearted genius Lally Katz. Lally, who wrote The Eisteddfod (my directorial debut), is in town for the Writers Festival and her (brilliant) memoir My Cursed Vagina. Yesterday was a real vibe at Marios for their 40th anniversary and launch of their celebratory book. A veritable ‘who used to be whos’ of Melbourne - Jon Faine! Derek Guille! Red Symons! A splendid community vibe fostered by the Marios over four decades. Free celebratory prosecco and pastry. I was there with one of my friends from the future set, writer and theatre creator Zack Lewin. Damn fine times.
