🌿 From Seeds to Sustainable Livelihoods In Armero-Guayabal, Colombia, the hydroponic community greenhouse is producing around 600 plants each week, helping strengthen food security through fresh vegetables and fruits. FSD supports this progress by providing practical training, including a germination and seeding workshop, which demonstrates the complete lettuce cultivation process to the greenhouse community. This gives participants the skills they need to sustain and grow production. Beyond food security, the project supports conflict victims in rebuilding their livelihoods, fostering resilience and strengthening community ties. #Colombia #ConflictVictims #CommunityResilience #FoodSecurity #Hydroponics

🤝 Launching of a Road Rehabilitation Project in CAR FSD and the EU delegation officially launched the rehabilitation of the Bouar–Bocaranga road in north-western Central African Republic. The ceremony brought together political representatives, technical partners and local authorities. More than a road, this 146 km corridor helps connect communities to healthcare, markets and essential services in a region affected by years of conflict and isolation. Through this project, FSD supports safer access, stronger resilience and long-term development. Project supported by the 🇪🇺 @eu_partnerships . #EU #CentralAfricanRepublic #PeaceSupport #MineAction

⚠️ When a Familiar Place Becomes Dangerous Pavlo (51) returned to a meadow he knew well in the Chernihiv region — but something felt wrong. Broken trees, scattered debris, and a drone lying in the grass, almost intact. Realising it could be dangerous, Pavlo kept his distance and called the authorities. Within minutes, police and explosive ordnance disposal specialists arrived and safely removed the hazard. Stories like Pavlo’s are a reminder that even familiar places can remain contaminated long after fighting has moved on. This is why FSD teams work to clear land and support communities. ✨ Meet our female demining team in Iraq: Today, women like Eman, Asmaa, Hanan, Amal, Siham, Shaimaa, and Raghda are working as deminers to protect their communities from explosive remnants of war. Before joining mine action, their lives followed very different paths: some were housewives, others students. Yet these experiences shaped their resilience, adaptability, and deep commitment to humanitarian work. Their journeys are different, but their mission is the same: saving lives, restoring safety, and building a more secure future. FSD was pleased to be invited by the KAMIR Swiss EOD Center of the Swiss Armed Forces (@armee.ch ) for an insightful presentation of their activities and expertise in explosive ordnance disposal. We also had the opportunity to visit their impressive training facility for explosive ordnance recognition. Thank you for the warm welcome and interesting exchanges throughout the visit.

🦺 Outfit of the Day: Deminer Edition Personal protective equipment, including an apron and visor, is part of a humanitarian deminer’s daily kit for clearance. It needs to be protective but not restrictive, remain light enough for comfort without compromising safety, and be robust enough to withstand daily use in outdoor conditions. In regions like Chernihiv, where contamination remains high, such gear is essential for enabling deminers to carry out their work safely and effectively. 🤝 Supporting People In Need In 2025, more than 2,000 mine and conflict victims and their families benefited from FSD support. FSD implements customised projects to support victims of mines and conflicts in economic integration and community inclusion. In Colombia, our project involving hydroponic installations, which enable victims to grow vegetables for their own use and for sale at markets, expanded significantly in 2025. Through such projects, victims gain greater independence. Because mine action goes beyond clearing land — it is also about providing new opportunities and restoring a future for those affected by conflict. #MineAction #HumanitarianDemining #VictimAssistance #CommunitySupport

🌾 A New Operational Season Begins Following the winter pause, FSD teams have resumed field operations in Ukraine, including in the Chernihiv region, to continue clearing land of explosive hazards. During the cold season, deminers strengthened their skills and completed the necessary training to ensure safe and efficient operations. They have now returned to the field to carry out the careful work of making land safe for communities. Ahead lies demanding and responsible work to ensure people’s safety and return land to productive use.
