Twenty‑three yachts and 100 peeps enjoyed another beautiful twilight sail last night complete with a gorgeous sunset and a half moon overhead.
The gusty, brisk southeasterlies over flat water made for exciting and fast sailing. Thanks to our start boat team for keeping the evening running smoothly and for their good humour.
A special thank‑you to Karen, who completed her final shift on the start boat last night. We’re very grateful for her time, energy and commitment.
Back at the club, the AkzoNobel VR Spray Challenge was great fun! Using a virtual reality spray simulator, ten of us had the chance to test our yacht‑painting skills in a surprisingly realistic but mess‑free environment.
Scores were very close, but the results were:
First: Andy from Sandgroper
Second: Anita from Ocean Street
Third: Chris from Skeeta
Andy took home an excellent prize of Seahawk antifouling. In last place Todd from Antidote heroically demonstrated exactly how not to paint a boat and was rewarded with 4 litres of Awlgrip boat wash👏
A big thank‑you to Paul and Corey from AkzoNobel for organising the challenge and providing such generous prizes. Thanks also to Scott in the sailing office for his support.
Another great night on and off the water!
