Big BIG news people. HUGE! An idea that's about two years in the making, I've joined the team @goalhanger for a brand new always-on podcast: The Rest Is Science⭐️ It's a podcast for people who like things both absurdly deep and deeply absurd. Science, but not in the way youve ever seen it before. Swipe for the trailer: 👉 My cohost is the inimitable Michael Stevens of Vsauce fame. I've been a fan of his for about fifteen years, and if you know his work, you'll understand why I'm so giddy i get to work with him. And if you've somehow missed him, buckle up - or at least find something to hold on to. Our first episode is coming next week. Prepare your neurons accordingly..

I may have overestimated my ability to create a seamless edit of them growing and shrinking 😆 but you get the idea! Also you have to assume the ball is being 3d printed on the precise plane of the 2d ant's (also flat) eyeball. Which turned out to be very hard to draw. So you might need to use your imagination a little bit extra on this one

Mathematics is the language of the Universe – and one of our best-loved translators is Professor Hannah Fry (@fryrsquared ). Hannah Fry is Professor of the Public Understanding of Mathematics here at Cambridge. To start off the Easter term, she gave the annual Rouse Ball lecture on ‘The Unreasonable Effectiveness of a Good Story’. Speaking to a packed lecture theatre of Mathematics undergraduates, Hannah shared some of the favourite stories she has told over years of talking to audiences about maths, showing how a well-crafted narrative and clever hook can turn abstract ideas into something human and relatable. To help train the storytellers of the future, Hannah was also joined by special guest Matt Parker (@standupmaths ) to deliver a follow-up set of practical, engaging and interactive half-day workshops on Communicating Mathematics for more of our undergraduate students. “This is about learning to wield your mathematics in public,” she promised, exploring ways to share our fascinating subject in a way that everyone can enjoy. 👏 Huge thanks to Hannah Fry and Matt Parker for such an inspirational start to term! ❤️ 📸 Professor Hannah Fry leading Communicating Mathematics student workshop, April 2026. #AD I would like to make everyone aware that I spent a lot of effort finding bell sounds for this reel that were actually the right hertz! I eventually found the perfect tones in an intro to handbell ringing video from 15 years ago. I really need to work on my inability to settle for "close enough." @skodagram are equally persistent in their pursuit of a great idea - and the world is better for it. For more information (and the freely downloadable white paper) simply search "Skoda DuoBell"

The best response I've had from a pilot when I asked this question was: "I have no idea - you're asking the wrong person. I just push the buttons."

Springing forward straight into clock chaos There are loads of studies out there that highlight how illogical it all is - here are just a few: A chronobiological evaluation of the acute effects of Daylight Saving Time on traffic accident risk, by J Fritz, T VoPham, K Wright Jr, and C Vetter (2020) Daylight savings time and myocardial infarction, by A Sandhu, M Seth, and H Gurm (2014) Changing to Daylight Saving Time cuts into sleep and increases workplace injuries by C Barnes and D Wagner (2009) The human circadian clock's seasonal adjustment is disrupted by Daylight Saving Time, by T Kantermann, M Juda, M Merrow, T Roenneberg (2007)
