The craziest flight I've done during lockdown last year to film @ryan_taylor in his Godzilla Nissan GTR
The most intense 45 seconds flight of 2020 for me as I only had one chance to take this shot
This is my only dive of the tallest building in this city because I didn't feel it was safe to dive it twice (even though I know I could have done a much better job on a second pass)
Big collective behind the scenes to make it as safe as possible on top of no air traffic (airports were closed), no pedestrians due to the time of filming (2am) and our crew blocking the two streets the uav flies over. I had two spotters, one looking line of sight the uav and another one monitoring the video feed, we had a third person in direct communication with other street spotters to anticipate any undesired pedestrian or vehicle forcing their way from the temporary roadblock we created. Night time flying is not allowed in this city but I made the judgement call that if the worst scenario of the quad falling from the sky would have had happened, it was much safer to do it at 2am than in day light

NEED FOR SPEED
First time I follow a drift car and this is probably one of my favourite drift cars: The Toyota Supra
This is not the smoothest shot but out of the three shots I got from the Supra, it's the one I have from beginning to end and it's my favourite one
I really felt I was playing Need for speed video game except that I wasn't driving the car haha
Following drifting cars is easy, but to get the car centered in frame the whole time it isn't easy at all. Cars move irregularly and you kinda have to play and dance with her. A lot of anticipation is required and I guess if I was to do this every day for a few days, I'd become pretty good at it
The environment scene was pretty small and there was a lot of cars drifting at the same time. My spacing skills and environmental awareness really helped me here, not much the flying skills I'd say. When I first got there in the morning I felt like : "there's no way I'm going to be able to full send it in this small race tracks". But then I thought, if they can do it, I can do it
If I have to follow drift cars again, I would want to follow them doing much longer drifting lines to keep the momentum on a high
Overall that was an amazing experience and I'm pretty stoked after 3 years and half of flying FPV to have finally managed to film a drift car

FPV drone captures Drymon on his dirt bike at low tide on Kuta beach, Lombok, Indonesia.
Fry & Drymon met when Fry was exploring the island with is scooter and drove found by mistake one of Drymon's secret spot. Fry was curious about the dirt bike, wanted to try but never done it before.
They exchanged numbers and the next morning at sunrise, they both met to shoot some epic FPV X DIRTBIKE shots in Lombok all around Kuta.
After shooting in the morning, Fry went exploring more and fell from the scooter because he was driving it on a very steep dirt road. He wished he had the dirt bike instead of the scooter at that moment. A hour later, Fry fell from a cliff and survived thanks to his FPV drone backpack that protected his spine. Regardless of the injuries, Fry showed up at sunset to film this shot you're watching now because he knew that a FPV shot with a Enduro at low tide on the beach would be an epic. Fry even had a go at the dirt bike in the soaky wet sand and the water. Probably the hardest thing he ever rode! But what an experience and what a day! Even with the bones hurting, he couldn't refuse Drymon proposing the bike for a few rounds.
This was the moment when Fry became obsessed with dirt bikes.
Because there were people on the beach, we only did one shot of this take and this is the one you're seeing now.

Adrenaline surged into my brain as I captured its majestic height: 678.9 meters! 🚁🌆🌟

As soon as you escape the most laidback surf city of Lombok, you stumble upon the most beautiful beaches and nature still untouched.
Of course I fell in love with the empty beaches. Who wouldn't? 😅 But above of all, I fell in love with the nicest and the most smiling people I met.
I thought Bali people were nice, but Lombok people are too. So I came to the conclusion every Indonesian are so nice.
Traveling alone made me want to talk to people. Not the tourists, no. But locals. I love sitting down and taking the time to talk to them. This is the best investment of my time I ever made in my life.
While navigating through differe religions, beliefs and values, Indonesians stay united. While being confronted to the difference of classes, they all work really hard, they all go through hell every day, lacking sleep, lacking money, not being able to provide for their families and at the end of the day, even if they are exhausted, they still have this beautiful smile on their face and they welcome you like you were one of their own.
This warms my heart every time, especially because I'm traveling alone, away from home.
My concept of home has changed through the past months. I used to say at first "I'm homeless" because technically I am, I don't owned anything except the drones I'm traveling with and I don't have any place to go back to when I decide my travels are done. But recently, I understood that the concept of "home" reflects the idea of being at peace with oneself and in harmony with the world around us. It's where my heart feels at ease, and where I can find solace and strength regardless of the physical surroundings.
Home is about the connections we make with the land, the environment, and the community. It's a place that supports our growth and where we can express our true selves.
Home is where my heart is, and today, I'm in Lombok.

This place was tiny. It looks much bigger than it actually is and there isn't much room to fly around. But hey! It's my first waterfall in Indonesia and I just wanted to go for it.
There was so much water around that I only took this one shot. I couldn't access it below and I was the only person there. So if I lost it or crashed, it would have been gone gone. So... I didn't want to risk it

📍 Kuta, Lombok
After spending time in an overcrowded and traffic-jammed Bali, I drove my scooter early in the morning to the ferry for Lombok with my backpack.
After a total of 4 hours driving and 6 hours on a boat without water or food (not because I'm fasting, but because I'm stupid 😅😂), I arrived for the sunset in Kuta.
I went straight to the beach, talked to locals near by with a chopped Indonesian language and as the sun was setting behind the hills, I flew my FPV drone to show the local guys that were hanging out and waiting patiently for the sun to go down for them to start eating and drinking as they've been fasting for Ramadan.
What I thought Bali was, it wasn't. What I thought Bali was, Lombok is.
