🥹🍓Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for joining me this 2025 in this fruity journey! <3
This project has always been about more than just fruit - it’s about reconnecting with our city, noticing the abundance that’s been hiding in plain sight, and building community along the way.
What makes it so special is the same thing that makes London, London: DIVERSITY! 🥑
The fruit trees tell the story of our city - avocados, lemons, mulberries, quinces - brought here from all over the world by people from all over the world who planted a piece of home in London soil. The trees are a living map of migration, care, climate and hope ✨
I hope Fruity Walks helps you see this abundance different, knowing there’s always more to discover around the next corner.
I can’t wait to discover more with you all in 2026. Here’s to another year of purple-stained fingers 🍇, unexpected finds 🍋, and seeing our city through new eyes 👀 🌳🍓
Huge thank you to all the organisations I’ve collaborated with this year - it’s truly been a dream come true 🌙
Love yaaaa
Divya

A deep dive into the mother fruit - The Ginkgo Tree! Technically not even a fruit because these trees are so old, fruits as we know them didn’t even exist 🤯💛🦖🦕
Would someone like to teach me how to prep them??? I know some good trees we can check out 👀😂
Let me know if you’ve seen other female ginkgo trees in London, would love to add them to the list.

The Grapefruit Tree 🍊
This one is very special.
Ive quickly realized that each tree has a story behind it. They tell the journey of people from afar bringing with them a piece of home. A piece that keeps growing and rooting into new land, just like them.
Let me explain.
Saturday 5th April I went on the search of a promised orange tree that the lovely Shelley @j4lebi told me she had seen while on the bus near Battersea Park.
After a couple failed attempts at finding it, I saw this gigantic tree with what I thought were a couple oranges hiding amongst its leaves. Mission accomplish - fruit tree found. Couple of pictures and done. ✅📸
But just like magic, while I was taking said pictures, a woman came out the house to throw the bins. I asked if that was her orange tree. She nodded and said it was a grapefruit tree actually. She invited me into her garden to get a better look at it. She told me “come sit here below the tree, this is where I come to find peace through everything that’s happening in the world right now.”
We sat together under the tree and as I was looking up she said “When you look up, you can see the grapefruits, but they look like stars to me” ✨
She told me she had planted this tree 30 years ago from seeds she brought from her hometown in Grenada 🇬🇩 Slowly, the trees grew and have given her a bounty full of produce year after year.
While saying goodbye she told me that every time I feel stress I should close my eyes and imagine I’m underneath the grapefruit tree and that everything would be ok.

The most decorated orchard in London 🥇🍎 Hidden in plain sight at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, you may have passed 30 different varieties of fruit trees and not even realised!!!
Mandeville Place was planted by @theorchardproject to honour every gold medal-winning ParalympicGB athlete from London 2012 - with a fruit tree chosen from their home region.
It’s not the easiest spot for fruit trees (it’s very exposed and windy) but that makes the volunteers’ work and the trees’ resilience all the more impressive.
Find the interactive map to locate the orchard via the link in my bio 🗺️ and head to @theorchardproject ’s bio for the full list of every athlete’s tree 🌳 #communityorchards #london #olympicpark #paralympics #eastlondon || Orchard || Stratford
