Shavua Tov beautiful friends! Nothing better to kick-start our week than snippets from last Sunday's Singing for Memory Tea Party that took place in our sanctuary.
It was an afternoon filled with song, joy and community, basically everything FRS lives for. We'd like to thank all volunteers and members who made the tea party possible.
Singing for Memory is all about bringing people living with memory changes and their carers together in a relaxed, uplifting space. Through familiar songs, people can connect, express themselves, and find moments of joy, even when so much else feels uncertain.

Friday night was a beautiful reminder of the power of friendship. Following a difficult week, the atmosphere at Finchley Reform Synagogue was filled with genuine warmth as the community gathered in solidarity.
It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, including Sarah Sackman MP, Deputy Mayor Debbie Weekes-Bernard, and members of the Somali Bravanese community. Between the presence of the Metropolitan Police, local faith leaders, and Rabbi Rebecca Birk arriving with cupcakes from FPS, the sense of togetherness was everywhere.
We are so moved by the brilliant resilience shown by the FRS community and clergy team.
FRS stands in solidarity with Kenton United Synagogue after their building was attacked.
Our thoughts are with the entire congregation and its leadership.
Violence and intimidation will not break our community’s spirit; we stand together.
The sound of solidarity. We shall overcome acts of hatred and attempts to divide communities or isolate us from our neighbours. Grateful for the friends who have stood alongside us and reminded us that light will always drive out darkness.
Article published Yesterday by our dear member @lucydtobin in The Telegraph. Thank you, Lucy, for your words, as well as to everyone’s support and love throughout the week.
May our Shabbat be filled with Shalom. Always and everywhere. 🤍
Dear FRS community,
You may by now have seen the news about the attempt overnight to harm our synagogue building. Shul is our home in so many ways, it’s the place where we come to find comfort and community and to take action for good in the world.
We are extremely grateful that nobody was hurt and that our building is also unharmed, but we know that the emotional and psychological impact of today’s events is significant.
We built our new building to be a platform to enable us to do all these things. When something threatens our physical space and our community, it also strengthens our resolve to invest our time and our love in positive expressions of our Judaism and our values.
For generations, Jews have responded to hatred with an affirmation of our purpose, refusing to have our identity defined by those who would do us harm.
We are extremely grateful for the solidarity of our neighbours, CST, local police and politicians. They help us remember that we are a community who would always choose to build bridges rather than walls.
We are so grateful to those who are investing enormous energy in this moment to care for our physical security, which enables our community to focus on its spiritual and emotional wellbeing.
In that spirit we will pray together this Shabbat, celebrating new young leaders in our community, a Bat Mitzvah, and continuing to care for the sick and the mourners amongst us.
Even as we respond to today’s events, we know daily life goes on and that means you may need us for completely unrelated but no less important conversations.
Whether you or your family need support after today’s news, or with any other lifecycle moment, the clergy and professional teams are here as always and we encourage you to reach out.
Please keep an eye on tomorrow’s FRS news for more information and updates.
With love,
The FRS Clergy Team
This Yom HaShoah, remembrance took us to Prague and Říčany.
Our FRS teens and adults have just returned from a meaningful trip to the Czech Republic, where they learned first‑hand about the lives of our people, those who survived and those who were murdered in the Holocaust.
Here you see them honouring those who were lost by cleaning Stolpersteine, even as snow fell around them.
We remember. We bear witness. We will never forget.

How very welcome I’ve always felt @frsynagram when caring for their Torah scrolls! It’s always a sacred trust to collaborate with a community on their Sefer maintenance and repair, and I’m grateful for each opportunity and relationship - Todah Rabah!
