We went and saw the Barbie movie last night.
The Kenergy was real.

This Thursday I officially became a Certified Flight Instructor! I'm excited to start teaching people how to fly.
If you know anyone that's been thinking about learning to fly, I'd be happy to talk to them about my journey and their options.
It's been a very busy year, and I can't say that it's been easy.
But in 12 months I have gone from 0 flight time, to passing my Checkride to become a Commercial Pilot this morning.
This isn't the end of the training or the road (sky?), and I'm excited to see where it all leads.
(There are still a lot of restrictions on what I can and can't do. But it's a big step!)

Back in November I started studying to become a pilot.
I did my first flight at the end of January this year.
Yesterday, I passed my exam and am officially a Private Pilot.
It was a lot of work, and more studying than I've done since college. But it's been worth it.
Went to San Diego Comic Con with a bunch of friends to do Sword fighting Demonstrations and represent the SCA!
We decided to do "period appropriate" interpretations of classic Disney characters.
I love how my Jack Skellington and Peter Pan turned out.
We had an excellent group that made the whole weekend a really great time.
I'll have to post group photos in another post, because Instagram photo format is weird 🤣

I get very behind on posting things I want to. So here's something from last October:
I started fighting rapier in the SCA in 2022, officially becoming "authorized" at the Great Western War in October of 2022.
At that same War in October of 2024, their majesties came out to the battlefield where I was impatiently waiting to stab my friends, and surprised us by awarding two of us with the award of "Duelist" in recognition of our improvement in our art.

I'm not fighting rapier to chase awards or recognition. I'm fighting with swords because of the joy I get from the game, and how incredibly fun it is to learn swordplay.
I love getting to fight, play, and learn with new people.
The award felt like a recognition of the passion and love that I feel for the sport, rather than an acknowledgement of prowess. And it means a lot more to me because of that.

The first time I spun fire was in 2018, but Fire spinning has become a more important hobby of mine over the last couple of years. I'm really enjoying the progress I've made.

Neotropolis 2025 was incredible. I plan on making a few different posts about it, since there is so many cool things to show.
But for me, Neo is about the people that I get to spend this time with, and the amazing experience we have with each other. So this post is to highlight these people that I love.
