We’re thrilled to share that our race will be formally named the Front Runners New York LGBTQ+ Pride Run™️ in 2026 and beyond! This change reflects a long overdue shift in terminology to add the “Q+” to our name, and the commitment to our ideals that as a community, we are stronger when we come together. The Progress flag in our updated logo points us in the direction forward, as does this update.
And, we can’t wait to do it united with you in every stride. Whether we are sprinting, jogging, or walking, every step we take adds to our momentum - and our pride is strongest when we unite together. See you on June 27 to fill Central Park with the hopeful energy of a community that knows we are unstoppable when we move together.

Last call! On Tuesday, May 12th, our coaches will be leading a running form clinic, and this year they’ll also be joined by Dr. Angelo Accattato and Dr. Katie Zhong from Ascent PT. We’re offering multiple time slots—please sign up so we know how many people to expect in each group. We will take videos of participants running and the coaches will analyze them in slow motion and offer feedback. For those who still want to do a workout that day, there will be an option to run intervals while the clinic is happening. See the gram for the meeting location and the link to sign up!
J Solle had always dreamed of living in New York City.
The Bay Area native went to college in Boston and stayed for several years after, but yearned for a more expansive and diverse queer community. So in 2021 they made the move to New York, and not knowing many people in the city, the first thing they did was join @frontrunnersny .
Quickly, running evolved into more than just the side hobby it was for J while in Boston. They went from never believing they could run a marathon to now having completed their ninth, and became increasingly involved in the Front Runners, serving on its board of directors for two years before taking on the role of race director for the @frnypriderun in late 2023.
J says there’s no way they could have predicted the behind-the-scenes work that goes into that role, but that it’s ‘so worth it’ once you pull it off. And it goes ‘hand-in-hand’ with the work they do to help educate other race directors and advocate for gender non-conforming runners in races outside the Pride Run, from local presentations to the United Nations.
We spoke with J to discuss how the Front Runners community made them fall in love with running, the history and legacy of the Pride Run, the importance of non-binary categories at races and more.
