Welcome to Night School 🌙 An alternative model for continuous education around Filipino media arts, atbp!
We have always enjoyed participating in sites of curiosity-driven knowledge exchanges 🧐 With Night School, our desire is to co-create another such site that not only offers alternative educational resources to local communities, but also ensures artist-instructors receive meaningful compensation. Each class is taught by a working artist that has been steeped in study+experience in their field.
🎟️ Workshop fees cover materials costs + compensate your instructors and SE for their efforts. Your participation contributes to the sustaining of Filipino cultural+artistic work.
Our hope is that through mutually beneficial exchanges, we can sustain and further one another 🤝

Finally got to do this wew 🫠 We’ve been talking about putting together an open source paper like this for a long time—and @designweekph seemed like a timely opportunity to share our first paper with da world 🌀
Eto po ang aming munting ambag sa pakikipagkapwa 🙂↕️ Placemaking, before we realized there was a word for it, has been Somewhere Else’s reason and dream. Our mission remains to be the co-creation of spaces + conditions in which communities can continuously generate and nurture cultures of critical care, together.
We are honored to be doing this important work alongside so many Filipino cultural workers. Only collectively can new worlds be realized!
This introductory primer synthesizes insights from conversations with fellow placemakers and community-builders—@agoooseteen , @artsybeaver , and @carlakdeguzman from the FUB and Magdamag communities, thank you for such generousity of thought, feeling, and energy 🙂↕️
