The domestic section is looking ever abundant these days! We’re thrilled to welcome back the wines of Caleb Leisure after a several year absence in New York. Caleb is an important fixture in the Northern California winemaking community, perhaps best known for, but not limited to his extensive use of Qvevri.
Three new additions to the shop from Jura’s foremost hybrids advocate Didier Grappe. Didier eventually grew tired of having to spray his vineyards with copper and sulfur to combat disease pressure in the Jura’s challenging climate, which led him to begin experimenting with hybrids. Thoroughly convinced, at this point Didier has no plans to continue planting vinifera although he still produces a few cuvées with the traditional grapes of the region. Whichever side you choose to explore you can’t go wrong, Didier is incredibly talented in the cellar and produces shimmery and captivating wines across the whole range.
Two rare beauties from the elusive Ardeche vigneron Samuel Boulay. Koanic examples of Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot from isolated old vine plots teeming with wildlife. Boulay has a delicate touch in both cellar & vineyard; likely why these wines have such a signature sense of place and person.
Cheers to a happy 2025 filled with great wines! A small drop of Matassa has hit the shelves and we couldn’t think of a better way to start the year. Tom Lubbe is a master of his terroir and the wines are a joy year after year. These have a fond place in many New Yorker’s hearts and we’re thrilled to be able to share some with you.
One of our personal favorites for this holiday season, Magali Tissot and Ludovic Bonnelle craft masterful Bordeaux blends in Buzet unlike any you’ve seen before. Biodynamic farming, no tillage, low yields, long elevage, zero sulphite additions nor filtration. These fly remarkably under the radar in the states, but are beloved at top restaurants across Japan & France. They showcase everything you could ask of Bordeaux, but with a vivant quality too often lacking in others.
Late season drop of one of the natural wine movement’s most iconic figures, Jean-Pierre Robinot. What more is there to be said Robinot has been holding it down in Jasnieres producing potion-like elixirs of Chenin Blanc & Pineau d’Aunis for over two decades now. These are the type of wines that push a casual wine drinker into full fledged wine nerd. Come quick we have tiny quantities and they won’t last long.
Hosting our first in store tomorrow with Ethan of Louis Dressner Selections pouring the singular wines of Trish Nelson aka La Gazzetta. Vibrant showings of Lazio’s famed terroir, Trish has an expert handling of her vineyards in part from her time at Cantina Giardino & Le Coste yet undeniably a natural intuition as well. 5 - 8 pm not to be missed!
Early contenders for neighborhood favorites and we couldn’t be happier. Julie Thelen and Xavier Auboux run a small 3.5 hectare estate in L’Hérault producing vibrant wine from old vine co-plantations, over 20 varieties in total including many obscure & forgotten. It’s no surprise these have been such a hit they strike a perfect balance of complexity and an approachable joyous quality. Perfect bottles for catching up with friends. Come stock up quick as these are produced in tiny quantities & wont last long.
Just in! Special bottles from one of the most talented Languedoc vignerons around. Single parcel Mourvèdre & a Macabeu fermented and aged in concrete egg. Treat yourself.
