Happy Goku Day! You see Japanese 5 is "go", and 9 is often read as "ku", thus May 9th or 5/9, us Go-Ku Day, Ta Da! (Although in Japanese May 9th is actually "Gogatsu Coconoka, so it doesn't actually work like that but hey, I won't miss an opertunity to post some figures or celebrate anime).
I had this idea of dueling monkey boys with Zidane and Goku, and I'm glad I finally found a place for it in this collab. Would've preferred to get a pic with the DSLR but lost my opportunity to do a reshoot when I moved here (unfortunately Goku is still back in the united states).

Not my most professional looking stuff, BUT I went to the Toei Studio Park in Kyoto which along with having a bunch of period drama style sets and history about the Japanese film industry, ALSO has a ton of Neon Genisis Evangelion stuff. While there I did technically take some figure pics there, so here's a drop from that experience:
1. Not a big "figure in hand" kind of toy photographer but I wasn't sure how else to get Rei and Asuka into a shot with the Eva 01 otherwise. I'm actually quite pleased with it though, I think it turned out cute.
2. Me in the Eva's hand (this time to figure is holding me!)
3. They had a gift shop/cafe for Evangelion there! The modified the exterior to match the edo period stuff in the rest of the park which was a cool touch. They also had enough style versions of the characters for merch which was also fun.
4. An Evangelion cake vending machine. Mainly took a picture of this cause of Kaworu and Shinji, though I did try one and it was pretty tasty
5. I also tried the "LCL drink" at the cafe and I feel like this beverages existence really brings the orange soda memes about the original movie's ending full circle. Pictured with it again are Rei Ayanami and Asuka Langley with very different reactions.
6. And here's one more of me and the mech, this one being the official pic that the park camera took (the earlier one was by a friendly passer by).

Happy Star Wars Day! May the Frogs be with you (very on brand and living up to my name sake today 🐸) unfortunately didn't get a chance to watch the trilogy (to be honest not sure how I would in my current situation), but luckily I had this little R2-D2 with me so I was still able to celebrate by taking some snaps. Maybe I'll see if I can find the Japanese dubbed versions in Akihabara and watch those when I get home at the end of the month.

This month’s theme is all about Elegant Blue—a color that rises quietly, then transforms the whole scene once it appears.

Elegant Blue has a way of grounding a shot while still pulling you deeper into the world being created. It’s the color of ideas forming, characters evolving, and moments that feel like they’re on the edge of becoming something bigger. Every photo this month carries that sense of unfolding energy—like a story emerging frame by frame.
The idea of a single color as a theme was cool, I could/should go through the whole ROYGBIV set someday. I love how color can direct a whole image and change the vibe. For "blue" I had a few ideas but ultimately settled on Frieren amongst the blue flowers. It matches the character/story, but most importantly, it made for something u expectexly striking!

Hello again, and happy anime day! I was very lucky to be invited by @theoldtoypic to this year's Anime Day Toy Photography collab, and very proud to be representing Studio Ghibli and the legend himself Hayao Miyazaki! My submission is for My Niegbor Totoro. My work will never quite be worthy of Ghibli to be honest, but as far as my photography goes, I'm pretty satisfied with what I was able to capture. Its rare for my photos to match the original idea I had in my head, but this is basically shot for shot with what I had imagined and I'm super happy about that. I hope you you guys enjoy too. This month’s theme is all about dynamic duos—a person and their animal sidekick stepping into the spotlight together brought to you by @jt.pudding . Add in a toy that sparks imagination, and suddenly the whole scene feels like a tiny cinematic universe.
There’s something special about capturing the bond between a human and their creature companion. The toy becomes the bridge between worlds—part prop, part personality, part storytelling spark. Every shot feels like a moment from an adventure they’ve already lived!
For my entry I went with the obvious choice, a Pokémon Trainer and her Pokémon. Yet another hold over from that Hawaii trip I went on, this was also taken while exploring Kona, the big island. It only felt right to bring Selene and Litten since pokemon sun and moon do take place in the Hawaiian themed region of Alola, and honest I'm super glad I did. Out of all the pics I took that trip, this was definitely my favorite, and I've been saving it just for this collab!

Cloud Strife in the dark underbelly of Midgar (IRL the actual place I took this was really nice, this just a small space between two building that made for a cool figure sized "alley").
Man these bring arts Final Fantasy 7 figures are really nice but even in Japan, they're crazy expensive. I was hoping to expand my collection, but I think I'll probably just stick to the ones I got (I already have every character I use on my play throughs anyway lol).
