Late to post about it, but I have a new comic out in the most recent issue of the Comics Journal. It's called "You Get Me Closer to God: Explaining Music to Dogs" and it's about growing up loving music but never being "good" at playing it. Thanks so much to editor @austinenglishdrawings for putting together such an incredible issue & asking me to be a part of it. This issue rocks, it's thick, there's some really great writing on comics and art and an interview with Gerald Scarfe.
The first time I took acid was on my 16th birthday, I had a weird rash on my face and neck and all my friends who didn't do drugs threw me a surprise party at my parents' house. (last slide is a photo from that fateful day. i have no idea why ig deep fried it i did not choose that filter) The first time you do acid is probably the worst time to be the subject of a surprise party so I had no idea how to react, but luckily someone gave me a DVD of The Wall and I was like, sick, let's watch this Right Now!! My friends threw pillows at each other during the "wall coming down" scene to make it a 4-D viewing experience.
anyway, very cool to have my comics in the same issue as the guy who saved my ass in that particular situation (and also whose art influenced me a lot at a young age.) an honor really!!

Then I'm driving to Maryland overnight in my 2002 Honda CR-V 🚙 for SPX! Never been before so I'm stoked. Doing two panels- "Warts 'n All Memoir" with @tarabooth , @angelafanche , @precious.rubbish moderated by @sequentialstate on Saturday at 4:30,
and then Sunday at 3 I'll be talking CRAM on a panel with @andyalexandy , @angelafanche & @maxhuffman , moderated by @clough.robert who so generously describes @cram_books as "the new cutting edge of comics". wow!! ok!!!
Then I'll probably sleep for a long time and wake up in time to read some comics back in Brooklyn at @nyc.gutter.show , Thu Sept 19 at @nook_bklyn . My dear friend @dayandagecomic is coming all the way from LA to read, and there'll be readings and animations from @lillixie9 , @jaymebrodie , and @anjisdoodles too. And it's freeee!!!
Ok if youve made it this far youre a real one, and I hope I'll see you at @pictobeach , happening at the Rockaway Amphitheatre this year. And I love you and that's the absolute last thing I'll try and get you to attend in the godforsaken month of September 2024 because after that I'm returning to my den for the rest of the year to draw more scratchy auto bio comics.

i'm stoked to have a comic about heaven, hell, and Broadway Junction in the new issue of Smoke Signal, alongside so many great cartoonists of our time (r) !!! Smoke Signal was a huge inspiration to me when I first moved to New York and picked up a free copy from @desertislandcomics per chance. I remember reading it on the train (huge newspaper in everyone's face) and being like, woah, I wanna draw comics. This issue goes so hard!!! And I'm a sucker for a broadsheet tbh. This beats AM New York by a mile. get yourself a copy and enjoy the comics within, it's a lot better in person. or if you hate comics but love sleuthing you can cut a peephole in it and use it to inconspiciously spy on people from a park bench 👀 just like in the old times

I drew this back in March but hopefully this can be a reminder of the importance of activism especially right now when the US is using our tax dollars to fund 1srael's gen0cide in Pa1estine.
