In the late 2000s john maus talked and wrote a lot of shit about “The Truth of Pop” and he was arguably capable of capturing its essence in both his lyrics and music. But it seems that he was only ever able to achieve this after working really hard at it.
Meanwhile, Maria Minerva elegantly and effortlessly pulled off something similar and superior. We can hear this in the heartbreaking, ecstatic, melancholic track called Disko Bliss wherein she repeats: ‘I’m going to a disco on my own.’
