"Whispers of the City" finds its home at Semua House in conjunction with KL Festival 2026, as part of a series of Think City curated public artworks unfolding across Downtown KL, inviting the city to be explored, felt and reimagined. What started as a skeleton of wood and steel has become a living landmark, shaped by many hands and voices.
From the bold strokes of the youth who painted alongside me to the rhythmic chime of upcycled skateboards and tins dancing in the wind, this is our story, told in colour and sound. It has been an honour to mentor these creators and witness our collective energy take physical form.
This work serves as a dialogue between the architecture of the city and the rhythmic pulse of the people who inhabit it. By mapping the invisible flow of the street through my signature lines and patterns, the structure captures the city’s energy, integrating the memory of salvaged materials with the promise of a creative tomorrow. It is a reminder that the soul of our city resides not in its skyline, but in the collaborative hands and collective voices that shape it.
No RSVPs. No barriers. The installation is now open for everyone to experience. Come find it, listen to the wind, and see what we built together.

This building opened day in day out as a beef noodle stall for over 80 years. It had fed people, and seen history. I draw towns and pockets of small houses because it’s my wish for everyone to have a home of their own. In harmony as neighbors. Grateful to @mykiehls for allowing me to paint this wish for the city I live in. This mural is two storeys high and is done in great detail. We’re bringing the streets to life by turning urban noise into rhythm. Led by KitaKetuk, this hands-on workshop invites you to build your own instruments from recycled materials before coming together in a massive community-led drum circle.
From scrap metal to street beats, let’s make the heartbeat of Kuala Lumpur roar together.

Envisioned by renowned muralist Fritilldea, this installation is a masterclass in urban storytelling, using his signature bold lines and intricate patterns to map the invisible pulse of the city. It stands as a poetic bridge between the history we inherit and the future we’re creating, reminding us all that the true soul of KL isn't found in its skyscrapers, but in the collective voices and creative hands that shape its everyday narrative.
This isn’t just an artwork to be viewed; it’s an experience co-authored by the community. Under Fritilldea’s mentorship, local youth have transformed the structure into a vibrant canvas, paired with a wind-driven soundscape of upcycled skateboards and metal tins. By breathing new life into salvaged materials, Fritilldea has created a space for mentorship and shared ownership that is now open for everyone to explore. Come find it at Semua House, listen to the wind, and witness what we can build when we create together.
