Our Roots of Care Committee regularly checks in on families served in our Emergency Fund who have (or continue to) face the harshest challenges such as cancer diagnosis of parent or child, loss of parent, or caring for a disabled family member. During one of our care package preparation events, Tacos El Socio wanted to show their appreciation for all we do by donating lunch to volunteers and staff. This family run Food Truck appreciates our Ventura County fieldworkers, and has joined us for several farm visits. Thank you!

Dear Friends- we’re saddened to share the news of an Oxnard farmworker who passed away May 2nd after being struck by a vehicle. He leaves behind a young adult son who is also a local farmworker. Friends of Fieldworkers has supported this small family via our Emergency Fund, however if you would like to donate additional funds to help, there is a link in our bio, with all donations going directly to the family.

We’re so excited to be providing work boots to Fieldworkers for the second year in a row!
Why new work boots?
🥾 The food we eat every day is harvested by men and women who deserve proper equipment (including footwear) to keep them safe and comfortable on the job
🥾 Inadequate footwear on the fields can result in slipping, falling, spraining or even breaking a bone
🥾 Rewearing shoes that are not waterproof on the fields is suspected to be behind a noticeably higher rate of foot infection amongst fieldworkers

Last weekend we gathered with volunteers and partners to thank them for all of their time and efforts. Friends of Fieldworkers is a small team who is able to accomplish so much ONLY with the support of over 200 volunteers and many amazing partners throughout the county.
