Hip hop lit pop-up sale at the Friends Central Library bookstore, April 27-28. Otherwise known as urban fiction, street romance, and definitely hot stuff. Hustlin’ divas, drug lords, thugs, and gangstas. Supply is limited, $1 each.
Quiet on the set! Director Daniel Shapiro, Producer Ani Walsh, and a cast and crew of UC students turned the Friends Channing Way bookstore into a movie set for a day. It was not a far stretch to conjure a library setting, as our sales desk and work table are actual library furniture. When the Moon Wore my Face is characterized as “a genre-bending film that touches on experimental horror, surrealist themes, and absurdist comedy”. Friends volunteers enjoyed the experience of being “extras” - even if we were just on the edge watching. Look for the production at a film festival near you!
