This was the strangest ice diving season. The ice, the mountains, the snow - they all seemed tired. Despite the odd conditions, there was so much stoke, and there were so many people (new and experienced) challenging themselves. There were first ice dives and freedives, first ever cold plunges, first suitless dives and swims between two ice holes (yep, in swimsuits!) - but my favorite part is the faces. Faces full of smiles, calm, and comfort in uncomfortable environments.
Let's do it again soon, mmmkay? ☃️

This past summer, our local divers were getting out for cold plunges, weekly training dives, running races, hiking, and exploring glaciers. Cross training doesn't have to come without a view! It's a lot easier to train when you have beautiful cold plunge locations like this one.

Being Canadian means many things to different people. I will say this: I'm grateful for my fellow Canucks who are stoked to get out and experience this beautiful place even when it might be a bit uncomfortable. We're just built a little differently here.

In the middle of a frozen lake in Banff, Alberta, a group gathers. Chainsaws cut into the ice and excitement builds as they prepare for their descent.
Once in the water, these divers are wrapped in the cold embrace, listening to the muffled footsteps from above as they traverse a hidden world beneath the surface.
