PTI Challenge.
My Lola and Lolo on my Dadās side shipped to Kauai, HI to work in the sugar cane plantation, like many Filipinos, and established our roots in Hawaii.
Fast forward, my Dad passed early in our lives and left my Mom, a single immigrant parent with two boys 2 & 4. Like many Ilocano immigrants in Kalihi, my Mom worked every day to make sure power and food wasnāt an issue. She was a Janitor at my elementary school and worked seamstress and yard gigs on the weekends.
She became the breadwinner of her Family and was able to bring my grandparents (Nanay and Tatay) to Hawaii. Tatay worked the yards and Nanay held down the home while both of them were out hunting.
Thatās my frontline that afforded myself the opportunities Iāve been able to come across and capitalize my whole life.
Salamat @carlangelomusic for affording us Filipino Artist the same opportunities past Filipinoās have built for us. This is huge for us, Pare.

I finally stopped trying to explain my music.
Everybodyās gonna hear their own pain, memories, and victories inside the same song.
Music is a template for people to paint their own story on.
And thatās how itās supposed to be.
Stopped overthinking music and started creating like I used to again.
Messing around with samples, drum breaks, transitions, and just letting the performance happen naturally.
When I watch these SP404 videos back, I see the younger version of myself digging through mixtapes in the 2000s looking for that backpack soul hip hop sound.
Honestly⦠Iām inspiring myself again.
Iām giving myself the same feeling I had back then when Iād discover a dope mixtape for the first time.
