The Free Spirit represents The Fool card in traditional tarot. The Free Spirit is a double meaning. As free spirits, we are not bound by limitations. We move through life with curiosity, instinct, and the willingness to step into the unknown without fear.
The character is depicted as a digital spirit, existing somewhere between human and energy. The image reflects both the freedom and uncertainty of the digital age. We now have endless access to information, identity, connection, and reinvention, allowing us to move through the world in ways previous generations could not. At the same time, that freedom comes with the possibility of losing ourselves within infinite space, motion, and distraction.
Like The Fool, The Free Spirit exists at the beginning of the journey. He moves forward with openness and possibility, trusting movement itself even without knowing exactly where the path may lead.

The Divine Fulfillment reimagines tarot through the lens of Black masculinity, presence, vulnerability, ambition, spirit, and becoming. Through archetype, symbolism, and portraiture, the series explores the complexity of self. As you move through this journey, take a moment to reflect and recognize yourself within the images.

Thoughts behind the cover:
The cover was inspired, in part, by the Diamonds from Steven Universe. These powerful beings are represented through shape, presence, and symbolism. I wanted to capture that same feeling of regality, stillness, and power.
The figure’s afro represents Black heritage while also functioning as a tree, signifying our oneness with nature. I’ve always been fascinated by humanoid deities, and this being exists somewhere between person and spirit. Roots travel upward through the body into the head like branches and nerves, connecting the physical self to something deeper. The connection between what's underneath and above.
The eyes are closed while the third eye is open, representing spiritual awakening and inner sight beyond the physical world. The mouth appears as a keyhole because the meaning of the work is not meant to be dictated. Only the viewer can unlock what the images reveal to them.
The figure is surrounded by the four elements, yet exists as the fifth element itself: spirit, presence, consciousness, and becoming.
