I woke up a little later than I wanted to. Three hour drive put me at my first pin at daylight. There were trucks parked at every holler I wanted to drop into. Those boys were there first. Respectfully I gave them the woods they deserved that morning. I spent the morning bouncing in and out of every block of woods I didn’t see vehicles parked.
At 13:05 I found myself 2 miles deep striking this bird. At 13:15 I was ejecting an empty hull with a proud sense of accomplishment.

There was still time on the clock. Storms were rolling in and I had almost checked myself out of the game. This bird never once gobbled. As I was about to get up I heard something walking through the leaves. Him and a buddy came strolling straight towards me. Kentucky opener was a good one.

April 11 2026 was an anticipated day! Turkey opener for the state of Tennessee.
No long drives to a different state. No 100 dollar fill ups. No hundreds of dollars spent on non residents licenses. It was a breath of fresh air to sit home and enjoy the moment.
Success started when I made the decision to just go.

Iv never met a Justin I didn’t like.
My family and I spent a little time in Hawaii on the Big Island. For six days of ocean views we filled our stomachs with poke bowls and plenty of musubi. Charlotte got to meet Uncle Justin and his beautiful family!
Turkey hunting has taken me to places iv only ever dreamed about. I will always be grateful for the chance to chase one more.

When I was a kid I use to watch a show on The Outdoors Channel called “Gold Fever” hosted by a man named Tom Massie. Tom ventured out west in search of gold. It had a catchy theme song with an unforgettable hook. “GOLD GOLD GOLD GOLD GOLD GOLD FE-VA-VA-VA-VA” I had big dreams! Funny to think about now but at the time I knew one day I’d moved out west to look for gold.
Chasing a mallard duck is a passion not all will understand. Why do we wake up early? Why do we travel across the county? Why do we put all this time, energy and money into a “maybe we will get them”?
