REVIEW #UnderdogFanzine / @fredspenner says that @aiming.music 's new EP, "feels less like a classic song collection and more like a cohesive state of mind: dreamy, slightly ethereal, groovy, and understated. Those who embrace the subtle shifts between noise, pop, and ambient will find here a small but compelling snapshot poised between melancholy and escapism." ""Our Voices at the Bottom of the Ocean" begins with a slightly dreamy, pop-like feel and a stoic rhythm, until, in the middle, sawing riffs break the monotony, and the contrast between noise and pop creates a bizarre soundscape. "First at the Accident" then relies more heavily on electro-pop beats and nebulous, soft vocals that linger long after the last note." ""Shit in the 80's" [...] develops a genuinely danceable groove in the longer instrumental passages. [...] The title track, "Sail & Wreck," serves as a slow, soothing lullabie, unfolding gently: reverberating textures, minimalist melodies, and an almost weightless rhythm carry the listener out into a kind of sonic no-man's-land. Here, the EP's overall mood culminates—between letting go and holding on, drifting and stillness." -Vielen Dank, Fred! /2026/03/24/aiming-sail-wreck/ #newwave #shoegaze #noisepop #dreampop

Absolutely lovely review for the latest @vlimmer.music single from #UnderdogFanzine, saying it contains, "Two songs that capture the shadowy thoughts and brooding anxieties of a sleepless night - until Alex's whistling wakes you up." ""Aufbeißer" leans towards Vlimmer's synth-heavy dream-pop side, unfolding a groove of clattering beats and shimmering, darkly pulsating bass lines. Overlaid on this is a Depeche Mode-esque keyboard with striking synth sounds that swell ghostlike, blaze painfully, and stretch out menacingly like a nightmarish sequence. The whole thing is carried by Alex's melancholic vocals, quiet and plaintive, somewhere between Major Tom and a death wish. Was it a dream? Hardly." "In the context of dream pop and indie, the "Young Folks" version (originally by Peter, Bjorn and John) seems like a deliberate departure from the playful and childlike quality of earlier interpretations: The song sheds the naive wonder of new love and maneuvers the initial feeling of closeness and connection into a darker inner void. Where once there was lightness, now reeling thoughts, uncertainty, and a subtle inward pull prevail. The romance hasn't vanished, but it's fractured—less a radiant beginning than an echo fading away in the reverberation of its own intensity." Vielen Dank, Fred! /2026/02/09/vlimmer-aufbei%C3%9Fer-young-folks/ #darkwave #synthpop #postpunk #wave @fredspenner

"Street punk from Cologne with attitude and heart: FLICK KNIVES deliver with 'Burn Down Start Again' an energetic proof that you’re never too old to let your inner child take the stage. Between snotty attitude and genuine euphoria, the five-piece celebrate their motto - roughly, “gonna stay gold anyway!” - and you can hear it in every single minute. Musically, the album is a driving blend of rock’n’roll, classic punk, and a solid dose of old-school ska. This mixture creates infectious hooks that don’t just echo along the Rhine, but linger far beyond. The songs burst with sheer joy of playing without ever feeling random - instead, they radiate a confident presence that’s truly contagious. 'Falling Down' stands out in particular: the track combines melodic punk with offbeat elements and multi-layered, harmonically refined vocal lines. The contrasting backing vocals add extra depth, while the chorus stubbornly lodges itself in your ears. Moments like this are what make the album strong - catchy, yet far from polished smooth. 'Burn Down Start Again' is a statement of unity, energy, and love for the scene. Not a dusty nostalgia product, but a vibrant, contemporary street punk release with a ska edge - direct, honest, and leaving a lasting impression. As a bonus, FLICK KNIVES add an extra punch: The four songs from the 'Knife-By' EP as well as 'Young ’til We Die' in its original version are included, too. A strong extra that further underlines the band’s spirit: For the crew and for the streets." * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Big shout out to @fredspenner / Underdog Fanzine - THANX for the beautiful review! 🖤 You can order the limited 12" vinyl including all lyrics × lines notes via our labels Mad Drunken Monkey × @ring_of_fire_records as well as via @wanda_records , @greenhellrecords × @madbutcherrecords
