“But… is it dangerous?” I often get asked, after I explained what I have been working on for the last 3 & 1/2 years. My answer usually varies, as I suppose danger is a subjective feeling. And as I get lost in trying to explain the concept to either someone who usually sits behind a desk or my neighbor who rides giant waves in shark infested waters, I often give up and end by saying: “Watch the show, man. These are important stories,” and I go back to sipping my beer and flipping the asparagus on the barbecue as I think of my brothers and sisters in arms with whom I have traveled the globe for the last few years, with whom I have watched sunsets on every continent and felt the cold touch of an AK47 before it was fired and hot after. The third season of Trafficked is premiering tonight. Thanks for the ride Mrs Van Zeller. @marianavz
It was only yesterday. It is too early to write about it. It’s too warm in the mind. It needs to decant.
But I think it’s fair to assume that we will never again follow a car up a narrow dirt road without our hearts increasing their bpm and our minds taking us right back to that Sunday afternoon in the mountains of Morocco when things didn’t go according to plan.
South of Nigeria - Oil fields. “We have no schools! We have no food! Our children have no future!” screams a man at my lens, his feet covered in oil.
Amongst the chaos, they let us film their hard life and misery.
“There are no birds here anymore,” says a woman her eyes lost in the ravaged landscape.
Then, we get back in the van and leave for our air conditioned hotel. They stay behind in hell.
Will what we do have an impact for the better? Will a difference be made? A small one? Something?

- We try to give each episode its own subtle visual signature. On the Motorcycle Gangs episode, I thought integrating B&W stills loosely based on the styles of Michael Ackerman and Martin Bogren would work well. Here are a few of the photographs @dirtmyth and I shot, while @joshuaflannigan made sure we still had moving pictures for the episode. Thanks to director @ericjasonstrauss and EPs @marianavz and @jkplunkett for letting us play.
