South West Essex Choir ( @swec1964 ) absolutely lifted the roof of @parishofchingford just before Easter with a stunning concert! 🎶
Under their new Musical Director, Simon Winters ( @swinters1965 ), the choir delivered a fantastic programme of choral music from @karljenkinsofficial , supported by the excellent soloist, Elizabeth Humphries, ( @lizhump ) and a brilliant accompanying orchestra ensemble plus the master of the organ and resident pianist to the choir, Ian Shaw. 🙏🏼🤗🤩

Can I be honest?
Spring term, you were… confusing at first 😅
Going in, the pieces didn’t immediately click for me. Karl Jenkins’ Stabat Mater and Johann Pachebel’s Magnificat, felt so different, and at times I wasn’t quite sure how it would all come together. Rehearsals felt like we were each holding separate puzzle pieces without seeing the full picture.
But then something shifted.
I found myself really drawn to the stillness and depth of Mother of God, Here I Stand. And even though Magnificat felt unpredictable at first, all those changes, rhythms, and shifts; it grew into something so lively and uplifting once it settled.
And Stabat Mater… pieces like Ave Verum, Sancta Mater, And the Mother Did Weep, and Virgo Virginum were my favorites. I will not talk about Paradisi Gloria as it deserves a separate post 😅😅
Those final rehearsals, things started to lock in. Lines connected, harmonies settled, and suddenly the music made sense, not just technically, but emotionally.
And then the concert… wow!!!
What didn’t quite land at the start became something genuinely powerful by the end. One of those moments where you remember why you love singing in a choir in the first place; that feeling of everything aligning at just the right time.

Dear UEL,
Thank you…. It was such an amazing experience.
I am grateful to my family who stood by me throughout this journey, from application till graduation, without your support, it would have been impossible.

I attempted that ride and I could feel every beat of heart while on it.
All in all, fun day in a fun place.
