Swiss presence at Nikaala Festival (
@nikaala_festival_officiel ) in Lomé, Togo.
Following on from last year, Togolese choreographer and dancer Germaine Sikota (
@germainesikota ) invited Swiss artists to participate in Nikaala Festival, which showcases choreographic works that engage with different thematics related to womenâs experiences.
The dance company of Aurélien Dougé (
@aureliendouge ) Cie Inkörper was invited to present works from the âShort Storiesâ repertoire that explore the dialogue between the body and matter, as well as host workshops and take part in discussions.
In parallel to this, Swiss performance artist Caroline de CorniĂšre of
@ciec2c and sound designer Frédérique Jarabo (
@fredjarabo ) attended the festival together to deepen their artistic and feminist research. The festival opened rich spaces for intersectional thematic exchanges through the lens of dance and different cultural realities, female artistsâ experiences and intersecting narratives. These encounters will inform their new collaborative sound and dance project titled âRecitalâ, focused on issues of female lineage and maternity.
