We honestly wish there was a proper way to translate the vibe of saying “siempre no” into English. The closest thing we can think of is a mix between a “¯\_(ツ)_/¯” and a funny little defeat. Like when your mom tells you you can go play with your friends, then realizes you never did your homework and suddenly your whole plan is canceled. That’s exactly what Siempre No sounds like: a whole lot of fun, tongue-in-cheek lyrics, an overall positive energy, and the kind of music that makes disappointment feel weirdly charming instead of tragic. Meet María, Cosme, Miguel, and Toño, a band that feels like Malibu waves crashing somewhere in Mexico right now, bringing a wholesome attitude and a ridiculously fresh sound with them.

We have a soft spot for bands that mix and match genres like they’re brewing magic potions, or blending some kind of questionable but delicious smoothie for your ears.🐈😼‼️ In this beautiful genre of genres, meet Siempre No, a wonderful tontipunk band from Mexico City. Their music feels like writing curse words with glittery crayons: quick, vibrant punk rhythms with bubblegum-flavored lyrics. Meet them in this week’s Freakout Fresh, and keep an eye on them and their upcoming album, out June 5.🏞️⚽🎭 👑 #newmusic #musicfestival

Cosmic Kitten is taking over this week’s Freakout Fresh with their sharp, fuzzy, and gloriously grungy sound. If you’re into alt rock, punk, Babes in Toyland, Nirvana, or anything that smells spiritually like flannel, this one’s for you. Get to know the band (and maybe pick up some financial advice along the way😉) #music #grunge #newmusic

MEOOOOOWWW BLEEEEEP BLEEEEP Greetings, earthlings! Meet your one and only Cosmic Kitten, this week’s Freakout Fresh act, ready to charm our human little brains. With performances as sharp as their lyrics, this San Pedro-based quartet and their “musical smoothie” of alt-rock, post-grunge, and punk are exactly what we want this section to be about. Check out this little snippet into their world, and make sure to listen to their self-titled record for more of that magnetic energy. P.S. Stream “Breadcrumbs.” It’s just *chef’s kiss.* #cats #music #seattle #livemusic

Every artist who plays Freakout is a legend in our book, but we can also say we’ve had the pleasure of hosting some of the legends who inspired the newer legends. How many times have we said “legend” in this post already? Here’s this week’s Freakout File: a look back at some of the most influential names who’ve done us the honor of being part of our festival. @losdugdugs @melt_banana @papisaicos @clintonfearon @kidcongopowers @osmutantesbanda @officialseedsband 📸 @housetornado @erictra @dannyngan @_bellatown_ @rbennettphotography

@austeromx is our Freakout Fresh pick of the week! We love their sound, and we love even more that they’re just three dudes against the world, making exactly the kind of music they want to make from beautiful Chihuahua, Mexico. If you like Melvins, skating, or have unresolved beef with seafood, this one’s for you. Go give their new album, Medio Camino, a listen. We have a feeling you’re gonna love it. #music #bands #newmusic #punk

Brainiac? Yes, please! Hi everyone! Let us introduce you to @austeromx . Austero are a Mexican band from Tijuana, as noisy as a blender and as crisp as fresh laundry. With a sound reminiscent of Melvins, a past that includes working with none other than Steve Albini, and a new record, Medio Camino, under their belt, they’ve got plenty to be excited about! They’re also the very first band to be featured in Freakout Fresh, our new section dedicated to highlighting artists that make your ears feel minty and your spirit feel recharged, no matter what genre they play. Keep an eye on our socials for more from Austero, and stream Medio Camino.

They say remembering is reliving, but honestly, we do not remember everything... well, sort of. Let’s just say a few details have gone missing along the way. But one thing has always stayed crystal clear: how the music at Freakout makes us feel. To keep our memories fresh🥬, we’re happy to introduce the world to The Freakout Files: a visual collection of some of our favorite moments, on and off the stage at our beloved festival. And what better way to begin than by looking back at some of the acts that have turned up the heat on the dance floor with their hip-swaying, bone-shaking, sweat-making grooves over the years. Enjoy the first ever Freakout Files featuring: @Sonrompepera @Losesplifs @Ritmocascabel @o_p_t_ @Terrorcactus 📷 @chicledeuva_ @Poundingthenail @trulybogus @lisahagenglynn 📍 @salmonbayeagles @Thesmokeshop.ballard @Tractortavern
