“This degree is not just mine. It’s about all my family.” 🎓
From Guatemala to Colorado, Alejandro Garcia’s journey is a reminder of what determination and community can achieve. This month, he graduates from FRCC with a degree in electrical engineering before heading to the University of Colorado Boulder for a robotics and drones research internship and later transferring to the Colorado School of Mines.
Alejandro also founded an academic support network in Guatemala that has helped more than 500 students through math and physics study groups. Incredible! 👏

Some graduation stories just hit a little deeper 💙🎓
This year at FRCC, a mother and child are crossing the graduation stage together, each earning their degree side by side!
Alicia Maldonado, originally from Mexico City, is graduating with her Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education, while her child Gio Rubio is earning their Associate of Science in English.
As commencement approaches, it's special moments like these that that showcase how family, determination and celebrations connect us in unique ways.
