This weekend The Quadrangles competed at the Indiana State Championship! We shot and climbed well, worked through a couple ball jams and electrical issues, and were selected to be on the 5th alliance, who fought hard and made it to match 10 of the tournament.
The team also won the Excellence in Engineering Award and team member Jiping was named one of two FIRST Leadership Award Finalists (formerly Dean’s List) and will be competing at Worlds for the award.
And speaking of Worlds, we found out at the end of the Championship event that we qualified to compete at the FIRST World Championship in Houston next week! We are super excited to join our sister teams FTC 11329 I.C.E. Robotics and FLL 29312 Harvey Hawkbots in going to Worlds 2026!
Last weekend The Quadrangles competed in our second district event in Lafayette. We did very well in qualification matches, even achieving Indiana’s first Transversal Ranking Point, and at the end of qualification matches we ranked 3rd out of 35 teams! We were the Captain of the 2nd Alliance, and very happy to be able to pick Maverick Robotics and Sham-Rock-Botics. Our alliance finished third in the tournament. The Quadrangles won the Excellence in Engineering Award and team member Jiping was chosen as a FIRST Leadership Award Semi-Finalist! Later we learned that we qualified for the State Championship. Thank you to all the hardworking volunteers that made the Lafayette event happen.
This past weekend we competed in our first event of the Rebuilt season in Mishawaka! The robot did very well intaking and shooting fuel into the hub, and we climbed several times. Drivetrain motor issues kept the pit crew busy and affected driving in a couple matches, but overall it is was a good weekend. We finished qualifications ranked 13, and were the first pick of the 3rd Alliance. We are also very proud to have won the Excellence in Engineering Award! Thank you to all the volunteers that make competitions happen, and we will see you at our next event in Lafayette March 26-28!
We are off and running for the 2026 season, “Rebuilt”! We spend two days at IU Luddy Hall analyzing and strategizing and brainstorming, and then on to our home in the IU MESH for prototyping and designing. It was a great first week!
