Went on a quick hike after wrap last night. The whole day had been cloudy and rainy, but figured what the heck—a cloudy, rainy hike is better than no hike. About halfway through, the sun dipped below the clouds and lit the whole sky with one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen. The desert never disappoints!
Outside is my happy place. Doesn’t matter what else is going on, nothing clears my mind like a quick hike wherever I am.
Also: My last two Instagram posts have both been the desert. Don’t know how significant that is, but I like it a lot.
It takes a really special project to get me to dust off the ol’ Director’s cap, but this video we did for @tmobile might be my favorite project of all time. We teamed up with renowned photographer / old Boy Scout buddy / certified nature nerd @nateinthewild to tell the story behind how he captures once in a lifetime photo in the beautiful Utah desert. Major props to my incredible team for pulling this one off, and an immense thank you to T-Mobile for trusting us with the freedom to tell a really cool story.

I told my 2 1/2 year old son today “hey, that seagull caught a fish!” And he said “NO, daddy! That’s a LAUGHING gull, that’s not a seagull!” And sonofagun, he was right. Leucophaeus atricilla, the laughing gull. Anyway, Jekyll Island is all kinds of rad.
2023 was the best year of my life so far for the simple reason that I got to watch this baby turn into a little person right before my eyes. Every day is better than the last. Here’s to a great 2024 ahead!
