Happy birthday @iamwendyyeo , Alhamdulillah for another year. Hope you’re happy with the life we’ve built together. May He continue to keep you safe and healthy and happy for many more years. 🎂
“We were never distant.”
Even with a 10-year gap between them, that’s how Fandy and Haffidz describe their relationship. They grew up sharing the same interests, and being around each other always came easily. “We just clicked.”
Looking back, Fandy admits he may have been a bit overbearing. With a 10-year head start on life, he tried to protect his younger brother, often telling Haffidz what to do, hoping to spare him from mistakes he had already made.
“It was very hard for me to let go. But I learnt that he needs to make his own mistakes and become his own person.”
For Haffidz, it was simpler. “He was my idol. Everything he liked, I liked. If he said Air Force 1s were good, I’d want them too.”
Over time, things shifted slightly. Fandy learnt to step back, and Haffidz started figuring things out on his own. These days, that dynamic shows up in small ways. Where Haffidz used to hang around Fandy’s friends, now it’s the opposite.
“Sometimes I wonder if it’s age appropriate,” Fandy says. “Like I see him doing cool things and I want to join, but I’m old. I’ll always be in big brother mode. I don’t think I can switch that off.”
“Then that’s your problem,” Haffidz says, without missing a beat.
That’s pretty much how it is between them. Brothers, ten years apart, but you wouldn’t be able to tell. At Komunal, family often shows up in the smallest moments, and stories like theirs are part of what makes Komunal feel like home.
Alhamdulillah! 13 but forever 3 to me. Happy birthday habibi @m8ti.nn (2 Mar)! Love you buddy!
