The Petite library is a pavilion that houses a vending machine full of books with a virtual librarian. 2 familiar concepts presented in unconventional ways was the major inspiration for the form. A new volume in the collage of the Joe Celestin Center. Now Open.

0625 - The wall and the towers.
Detailing the front elevation here and it looks like I took a short v-ray tutorial. The rendering space is where I think Ai, can really help, running some experiments once you have a design stable diffusion will respect your geometry and only add material. Also thought to add a traditional porch but all of it is stone even the roof #frapstudiotoday
0624 - The wall and the towers.
View development continues, here I’m working on the courtyard details. I was thinking a lot about the stacking of stones. The threshold between to the house and the outdoors is a wood deck on a stone plunge The vertical circulation opens up to the courtyard to bring light into the homes. #frapstudiotoday
Day 15 - The wall and the towers.
I just realized that I’ll run out of footage before 30 days 😂. Not all my studio sessions were recorded, some of them were not a my desk. Moving on. I continued to develop the interior spaces. Got really excited about this “catwalk” to the main suite which crosses a garden terrace. At the top of the stairs you can look out to the courtyard or out over the trees to Biscayne bay. (Yummy)
Day 14 - The wall and the towers.
I started to model interior details, applying textures and colors, and loading in furniture. The pink rendering you see is me not being able to resist hitting render, but it’s only to see the space with just natural light, camera setting still needed to be adjusted that comes later. #frapstudiotoday #sketchup
Day 13 - The wall and the towers.
Sketching over 3D views and sections. Completed. I’d been thinking about materials the entire time but decided to make a board to guide me as I moved into the rendering stages.
Day 12 - The wall and the towers.
Sketching over 3D views, I decided I was done tweaking the design and this method lets me focus on what I want to detail in each particular view.
Day 11 - The wall and the towers.
Back to the 3D model, making massing adjustments to roof and walls. finalizing the view selection, settled on 3 exterior and 3 interiors.
Day 9 - The wall and the towers.
Taking the plan from sketch digital. I dimensioned the plan sketch on bluebeam then built it out in revit. Set my levels and we we’re off. #sketch #bluebeam #revit
Day 7 - The wall and the towers.
Another pass adjusting the massing to feel like sketches. Drawing on scalable drawings is helpful because I just have to measure to match the proportion. Also added some wall thickness to the sketch up model and did a 1/4” scale plan.
