7. Downtime
This was a day to chill & do next to nothing. And by that I mean eat, sleep & watch the MADNESS that is American TV. Some of the craziest stuff on TV isn't even a a documentary or drama series but their adverts...particularly the ones about the various pills they they're tryna push onto the public. πππ It's a JOKE TING. Don't take my word for it, watch for yourself. Unfortunately because Instagram is a rather prolific pagan, you won't be able to see the full clip (and it didn't give me an option to trim it) so I may upload more of it at a later date. Potential medical aid is crazy out here...crazy that it's normal too...or maybe in the mad one. It felt good to recharge, even though certain individuals try make me feel guilty on MY HOLIDAY! Not mentioning no names...but I will randomly tag someone @matteo_tchaikovsky_14 (WASTEMAN). All was well, it was a vibe. BLESSINGS. βπΎοΈ More to come.
5. The 'Great' Flood
It was a bit of a wash out this day. The plan was to head out & do a bit of shopping, which did happen...until the heavens opened & trust me, they opened. Unfortunately the videos you're seeing don't show that, I pretty much only caught the before & after. For the main event I was just staring (whilst simultaneously stuff my face...who says men can't multitask!?). It was like a monsoon was on its way. A wonder to behold, but slightly less than pleasant to be caught in. I won't lie though, I catching some seriously joke watching people struggle particularly with their umbrellas in the dirty downpours. It was like multiple scenes out of Mr Bean. The way certain individuals were clinging onto them like say it was their last lock of hair...sometimes you just gonna let go & embrace Mother Nature. Not me though. BUN THAT. I was perfectly content to chill in Popeyes (their food is THE TRUTH btw!). And I was literally chilling. I could have sworn their aircon was up at full blast+1 but I firmed it, the buttery biscuit from heaven & chicken required me to. More food was had, as you can see, such as that whole pizza that was about the size of the male ego. Don't watch the side with pineapples on btw, pineapple on pizza is irrelevant & if you think it's not, then so are you. More to come! Stay tuned. βπΎοΈ
4. Satchmo
The Annual Satchmo Summerfest! A yearly festival in honour of the great Louis Armstrong. I loved it. The music was relentless in the best possible way. Frenchmen Street is place to be if you like your music btw. Honestly I'm gonna keep on going on about this, but if you haven't been to NOLA...YOU NEED TO. It's a special kinda place...Ya heard me!? More to come, stay tuned. βπΎοΈ
3. Be A Prime Example
Ok, so I'm falling behind with my posts. I'm sooooo not on day three but let's pretend like I am. We took a trip slightly further afield than we'd previously been to a Jazz club called Prime Example Nicholas Payton (check him out). The vibes were too much. I've never seen someone play trumpet & keys at the same quite as good as this man did. The location of the club was also shall we say a bit different to what I'd experienced before. I'm pretty sure it was up in one of 'the hoods'. I can't be sure, what I will say though is that one of the cook from the venue did have bike jacked in front of us whilst we were outside the venue. No violence was involved by the way...dude just took it. Calmly. And it all nearly kicked off between two guys whilst we were there. That was a new one for me, I've never seen beef before in a Jazz club. #NewTings
Musically it was OFF THE CHAIN as expected. The people here are on another level. It makes me sad when I think about how uninvolved a lot of us lot are with music back home. Ah well! Best not to dwell. More to do, more to see more to hππΎ. I'm gonna try and fling up number 4 soon. Stay tuned! βπΎοΈ
2. Frenchmen St
If you're coming to NOLA & you wanna experience something authentic you really need to look no further than heading on down to Frenchmen Street. The calibre of musicians here & just the overall vibe makes me wanna cry tears of Joy & headbutt the floor. In all fairness I don't get out as much as others, particularly on a musical tip, but there seems to be a uniqueness to both this place & the people...LONDON THIS AIN'T FAM. Far from it. Music runs though these people's veins. It's natural. It's amazing. It's disgusting! In all honesty I could see this place becoming a regular holiday venue, or PERHAPS! Maybe something even more. May the good times continue. More to come, stay tuned. βπΎοΈ
1. A Tale Of Three Cities
Soooooo. Back at it again! In the land of Freedom, Opportunities, Unnecessarily Oversized Cars, Fat People & Deeply Rooted Racism. It's been a bit surreal to come back (I'm in New Orleans currently btw), probably more so for the fact that I don't travel much. This excursion marks a bit of new event for me. First time I've actually went on a plane on my own! Won't mean much to most or any of you but it was pretty nerve wracking (I don't travel much). I managed it though...without missing my plane or ending up in Afghanistan so please believe the Joy is TOO REAL! I'm here for a little while though, so still plenty of time to get lost. Pray for me! More to come, stay tuned.
P.S. Oh yeah, the food here (much like I remember) goes H.A.M.
