when i was in high school, i started noticing a few grey strands of hair. after being teased & made fun of, i grew so insecure i started dying it black when i was just a college student. i permanently died my hair every ~6 weeks for over a decade.
in 2022, i was tired of the amount of time, effort, money & chemicals i was dealing with so i decided to stop. then i shaved off all my hair & allowed it to grow back naturally.
what’s funny is that now people ask me all the time if this is my real hair color - yes, this is all me! what once brought me shame now brings me pride. accepting who i am on the outside helped me love who i am on the inside even more. ❤️

we live in such an on demand environment now where i do feel like people aren’t as open minded when it comes to exploring new music.
butttt as a DJ i still think it’s important to expose crowds to sounds they may not have heard before. maybe even moreso now bc we’re so insulated & often confined to our own algorithm.
it’s a balance between finding the right time and reading the audience. what are your thoughts??? LMK!
