🇪🇺 Let’s Celebrate Europe Day Together ! On May 9, 2026, we celebrate Europe Day! On this occasion, France reaffirms its commitment to a strong European Union (EU), founded on three inseparable pillars: security, prosperity, and democracy. Against a backdrop of heightened global rivalries, Europe represents an independent path and a sovereign power. 💡 A force for global stability: The EU does not serve only its own interests; it acts as a reliable and predictable partner for international stability. By keeping a “third path” open through its refusal to submit or confront, it acts as a buffer against the polarization of the world. Wherever freedom is threatened, particularly in Ukraine, Europe remains an unwavering and reliable support in the face of aggression. 💡 Ensuring its autonomy: Today, the EU is reducing its dependencies and gaining strategic autonomy in the fields of energy, digital technology, health, food, and research. The revival of European defense is a clear sign of our determination to ensure our own protection. Furthermore, Europe is also building its strength by looking to the future, through the promotion and funding of innovation in the fields of AI, quantum technology, space, and green technologies. 💡 Defending the democratic model: In the face of attacks from international reactionary forces, Europe remains united around its values: respect for human rights, democracy, sovereignty, and international law. The EU thus remains a major center of attraction, guaranteeing a better and freer life for its citizens, defending academic and scientific freedom, and protecting its citizens from information manipulation by foreign actors. @francediplo @euinnam @eudiplomacy

Acquisition of the Namibian Oncology Center by Proparco and Salt Capital Last Thursday, Ambassador of France H.E Cécile Vigneau attended the signing of the acquisition of the Namibian Oncology Center (NOC), by Proparco and its partner Salt Capital.  Proparco is the private sector financing arm of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Group, which specializes in supporting sustainable private investments in developing and emerging countries. This transaction highlights France’s continued engagement in Namibia and the region, in a field that has a direct and lasting impact on people’s lives. Reflecting a shared ambition to strengthen access to quality healthcare services in Namibia, this acquisition also contributes to addressing this public health concern in Namibia, as its government, under H.E. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, is working to strengthen the healthcare system. The Ambassador warmly congratulated the founders, Anthea van Wyk and Tommy van Wyk, for their remarkable contribution to advancing cancer diagnosis, treatment and care in the country. As access to cancer treatment remains a critical challenge, this milestone will support the improvement of patient outcomes and expand access to essential treatment across Namibia. Through Proparco, France is proud to support initiatives that combine economic sustainability with positive social impact. @afd_france @namoncology

The energy sector hosted at the Residence de France   Yesterday evening, H.E. French Ambassador Cécile Vigneau welcomed French companies from the energy sector, members of the Namibian French Business Association (NFBA), Namibian and foreign partners to a reception at the Residence de France.   🇲🇫 This event was organised on the occasion of the visit to Namibia of a high-level business mission led by the energy focused EVOLEN Association. Some companies were also in Windhoek to participate in the Namibian International Energy Conference (NIEC), which took place this week.   🇳🇦 The Ambassador highlighted France’s desire to put energy at the core of its partnership with Namibia. She highlighted the great potential of Namibia in several areas, as the prospects for the development of the oil and gas sector could potentially bring the country at the dawn of a new era. The French group TotalEnergies is leading the way for the first oil. She also mentioned investments in renewable energy, fuelled by the country’s abundant solar and wind resources and pilot projects in green hydrogen, supported in particular by the European Union and some EU Member States. She indicated that Namibia now needs to be ready to welcome investors in a very practical way, in particular as regard working visas and the enforcement of local content rules.   She also reminded the guests of the upcoming Africa Forward Summit co-organised by France and Kenya in Nairobi on 11th and 12th May, titled  “Partnerships between Africa and France for Innovation and Growth”. The Heads of State and Government of African countries have been invited by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto. The Summit will have a strong economic focus and it will be a new opportunity for meetings between the French and African private sectors, with the goal of identifying new growth opportunities; fostering cross-investment and job creation, meeting the needs of African youth and discussing the financing of development.
