I can't believe that today marks the 5th anniversary of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘺𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘎𝘪𝘳𝘭'𝘴 release. 🥹 The week before the book came out in April 2018, I remember checking out the ‘women in business’ table at a local bookstore, and I almost had a heart attack. Most books were promoting a tougher, more masculine form of leadership. I was looking at that table thinking, ‘That’s where my book is going to go.’ Yikes. I was offering a very different take, and I got worried that my perspective on advancing in the workplace through kindness, empathy, and compassion wouldn’t land. But it did. The book ended up being a bestseller, made all sorts of 'best of the year lists,' was awarded Audible’s top business book of the year, and has been translated into eight languages. The most profound impact of publishing the book, however, has been the feedback I’ve received from women all across the globe. I guess women were ready for this message after all. It was fun to go back through all the photos and pick some of my favorite moments. From the TODAY show and the boys seeing the book in PEOPLE to the adorable 𝘕𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘎𝘪𝘳𝘭𝘴 𝘍𝘛𝘞 bracelet by @littlewordsproject 💞 I’ve heard from so many of you in my Instagram family over the last five years – you’ve shared over and over what the book has meant to you and how it has impacted your career and life. Thank you for your friendship, support, and encouragement. It has truly meant the world to me. Let’s keep supporting and learning from each other 💛 #TheMythOfTheNiceGirl #NiceGirlArmy #BookAnniversary #BookBirthday

What if one of the biggest advantages in business is simply having lived a little more life? ✨ I sat on a panel at the Wealth Catalyst Summit this morning where we discussed the advantages of building a business over the age of 40. 💪 Yes, there’s the advantage of having a deep network that’s been built over years, and the relationships that can make access to everything (financial resources, talent, partnerships) easier. ✨ But we also talked about leadership experience. By this stage, many women have managed teams, navigated difficult situations, and developed a stronger sense of the kind of culture they want to create. And one of the biggest advantages? Clarity. The older we get, the more precious time feels. There’s often less overthinking and more confidence in decision-making. More willingness to trust your instincts because they’re rooted in decades of lived experience. 💫 There’s something really powerful about building from that place. 💛 A huge thank you to my dear friend @syama.co for creating the space for us to have these conversations. 🥰 And the women on my panel were🔥 @cindygallop , kimmykimkimkim, and M. Claire Chung. I was so present—absorbing the incredible speakers and connecting with the community—that I barely took any photos… but sharing the few I did take. 😊 #WealthCatalystSummit

I attended the Wealth Catalyst Summit last year and left feeling so energized—the conversations were honest, thoughtful, and genuinely generous. ✨ This year, I’m excited to be speaking on a panel: The Advantage Nobody Talks About: Building a Business After 40. Building later has never been the disadvantage culture makes it out to be. If anything, I think it can be an edge. With more experience comes sharper intuition, deeper networks, and a stronger sense of self. 💪 If you’re building something (or thinking about it), join us for this conversation and for an incredible day of learning, connection, and inspiration. Hope to see you there 💛 👉 Learn more & sign up: wealthcatalyst.com 🔗 @syama.co , @the_clairechung , @cindygallop , kimmykimkimkim

Such a full circle moment 💛 On Saturday, we hosted a meet & greet for Lindsay Linton Buk’s beautiful new coffee table book, 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘦𝘴𝘵—and it meant so much to celebrate her at @bedfordbooks_ because Lindsay came through the Bookbound Accelerator @bethany_saltman and I ran in early 2024. Since then, she’s gone on to publish with @thecollectivebookstudio —and flew in from Wyoming to celebrate her launch with us! The room was filled with the best kind of connections—friends and collaborators who have been part of this journey in different ways ✨ (tagging you all!) @jannamturner @christineiswriting @mrs_bennis @iam.brianne @lilimakesbooks And so many of Lindsay’s friends and family came from all over to be there—it felt really special. 💛 Congratulations, Lindsay—so very proud of you! 🎉📚✨ #BedfordBooks #Bookbound #IndieBookstores #BookstoreEvents #Bookstagram

I’m so excited to welcome my friends Lilian Ajayi Ore and Mary Olson-Menzel to Bedford Books on March 31 for a conversation about how a learning mindset can transform your career. ✨ Lilian’s new book, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘦𝘵, just debuted at #9 on the USA Today Bestseller List — which is incredible and so well deserved. 🎉 I’ve had the privilege of growing up in my career alongside both Lilian and Mary. We’ve each built platforms helping professionals navigate their careers, and I can say firsthand that I’ve gained so many valuable insights from them over the years. They are two of the smartest and most thoughtful voices in this space, and I’m excited to be in the audience learning alongside all of you. 💛 📚 In this conversation, we’ll explore how to stay relevant in a fast-changing world, build a learning mindset that fuels growth, and approach your next chapter with curiosity and confidence. Whether you’re early in your career or leading teams, you’ll walk away with practical ideas you can apply right away. 💫 Join us! Just wrapped up a keynote at the ALLPRO Women’s Conference in Orlando ☀️🌴 After a long winter in NY, seeing blue skies and palm trees felt like medicine. Even better was the incredible energy in the room. ✨ We talked about how we show up at work and in life — and how ambition is the courage to want more and go for it. 💫 Honestly, I don’t think I realized how much I needed this kind of energy. So grateful to everyone who showed up and made it such a special day. 🙏 And yes… we even got a prom-style picture on the stairs. 😂 #TheMythOfTheNiceGirl #Speaking #WomensEmpowerment

Such an honor to have Bedford Books included in @connecttomag ’s 2026 Ones to Watch ✨ I had so much fun being interviewed and appreciated the chance to reflect on the past year. We talked about everything from the behind-the-scenes reality of running the store (yes, most of the social media is still me!) to the small details that matter most—like York Peppermint Patties, dog treats, and creating a space that feels warm and grounding. 💛 Swipe through for my responses, and read the full article online. 🔗 Congrats to all of the other honorees! 🥰 #ConnectToTheBest #ConnectToMag #BedfordBooks

⏳ What does it really mean to be generous with your time? I’ve been thinking a lot about this — especially as I work on my next book, 𝘛𝘸𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘺 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘳. It brought me back to someone I met early in my startup investing days — a venture capitalist who stood out not because of his résumé or the size of his fund, but because of how he treated time. He started meetings exactly when he said he would. He was fully present. No rushing, no multitasking, no “I’m very busy” energy. Just calm, focused attention. At the time, I thought it was impressive. Years later, I realize it was something deeper: generosity. 💛 The most generous leaders I know don’t give more time—they give better time. They are clear, present, and boundaried. And in doing so, they give everyone else permission to be the same. I wrote more about this (and why it’s been on my mind lately) over on Substack.
