Massive thanks to @schoolofmotion for the round-up, including Live Mode, which provides synchronized review of videos. (Make sure you're subscribed to the School of Motion YouTube channel. It's excellent.)

The big news this week is the launch of FrameRate Review, a fully featured tool for enabling clients to give feedback on your videos. Review also includes Live Mode, allowing you to see exactly what your client is seeing in real time.

At FrameRate, the feedback we kept hearing from users was pretty consistent: client review tools are too complicated. So we built Review, our own client review tool inside FrameRate, with one main goal: make it simple enough that your client will actually want to use it. A few things we’re really happy with: 👁 Live presence so you can see your client’s screen and cursor in real time 📊 Per-user analytics so you can see who watched and what they downloaded 🔒 Version locking so nobody’s reviewing the wrong cut 🎬 Theater mode kicks in when you hit play so the client can focus on the video 📍 Timestamped comments with range loops so feedback is tied to the exact moment ✏️ Drawing tools so clients can mark up a frame directly ✅ Resolved comments that get out of the way once handled Simple on the surface, more capable than it looks.

I boiled magic out of my life years ago. I’ve been a card-carrying skeptic for a long time. The kind who starts sentences with “Well, actually…” The kind who fact-checks every Instagram post his wife sends him. I know. Annoying. 😬 But something changed this year. I’ve been calling it my “Year of Magic.” Joining @framerate.tv as a (late) co-founder reignited something in me so deep I’d forgotten it was even there. Now I’m chasing magic again. At 48. In suburbia with a beautiful wife and two kids. Chasing… ✨magic.✨ So when @artandgraft sent over their new short film, “In Pursuit of Magic,” I did a double-take. It’s strange. It’s beautiful. The craft is inspiring, the animation aggressively hybrid in the best possible way, and the score by @zeligsound is worth the watch on its own. I’ve said too much. Just watch it. Dim the lights. Put on headphones. Go full screen. “In Pursuit of Magic” is making its online exclusive debut on FrameRate. Link in bio.

We’ve been gorging ourselves on an all-you-can-eat visual buffet for so long that we’ve forgotten what it means to slow down and really enjoy something. No distractions. No ads before and after your content. Minimal UI. The way it should be. 🔗 By the way, this is an excerpt from the excellent Jack Vaughan podcast. Find the full episode via the link in bio.

This isn’t Tyler Williams’ first rodeo. He and partner Eri Levin built Motion Array and learned a lot of lessons along the way. In this interview for the Jack Vaughan podcast (subscribe now, it’s great), Tyler shares one of the core values that he’s carrying forward with FrameRate. 🔗 Full episode at the link in bio.
